Denmark’s biggest electric car show returns to Herning on 2–4 October 2026, bigger than its debut year. Around 200 cars available for test drives, a string of Danish and European premieres, a full stage programme and two extra halls: here is everything you need to plan your visit to Elbilmessen 2026. When Elbilmessen opened its doors for the first time in October 2025, it revived a Danish tradition: the big public car show at MCH Messecenter Herning, once known as Biler for Alle, reborn as an all-electric event. The organisers, MCH, run the show together with the industry association Mobility Denmark, and the first edition exceeded expectations with 27,845 visitors and more than 4,000 test drives. For the second edition, the fair expands with two additional halls and a longer list of exhibitors, making it the most complete overview of the Danish EV market you can get under one roof.

Saturday 3 October 09:00 – 18:00
Sunday 4 October 09:00 – 17:00
Friday morning is reserved for the trade and press, which is when most brands unveil their new models. The public gets in from 13:00, and by then the premiere cars are already on the stands.

What to see: the brands and the premieres

A large share of the brands selling electric cars in Denmark will be in Herning. The announced line-up includes Alpine, BMW, BYD, Changan, Cupra, Firefly, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MG, Mini, NIO, Omoda Jaecoo, Polestar, Renault, Skoda, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo, Xpeng and Zeekr. The organisers note that the list may still change before the doors open.

The headline acts

  • Tesla Cybercab – The production version of Tesla’s two-seat robotaxi, with no steering wheel and no pedals, is expected to make its first appearance at a Danish show. Tesla will also bring the Model 3 and Model Y for test drives.
  • Volvo EX60 – Volvo joins Elbilmessen for the first time, and its new EX60 is not only on display but also available to drive. The EX30, EX40, ES90 and EX90 are on the test-drive list too, and Volvo will present a new EX40.
  • Polestar 4 SUV and Polestar 5 – Two new models from the Swedish performance brand.
  • A European premiere from Lexus – Toyota will present its upcoming model programme, including a Lexus model that has not yet been officially revealed.
  • BMW i3 and iX5 – Two Danish premieres from Munich.

More Danish premieres

  • Changan Deepal S07 – The Chinese manufacturer’s SUV makes its Danish debut.
  • Nissan PIXO – Nissan’s new compact electric city car.
  • Mercedes-Benz – The GLA 350 4MATIC, the GT 55 4-door Coupé and the electric VLE 300 people carrier.
  • MG IM5 and IM6 – The saloon and SUV from IM, the newer EV brand of MG owner SAIC Motor, shown in Denmark for the first time.
  • Kia PV7 – Shown both as a Cargo van and as a Passenger version.
  • Renault Trafic E-Tech – The electric version of Renault’s best-known van.

Beyond the car stands

  • Car of the Year in Denmark 2027 – The nominated cars for Årets Bil i Danmark are exhibited at the show, a good way to see the year’s most talked-about models side by side.
  • Electric vans – Light commercial vehicles have their own dedicated area this year, aimed at tradespeople and fleet buyers.
  • Charging and finance – Charging operators, wallbox suppliers and leasing and finance companies are all on site, so you can sort out the “whole package” around an EV purchase.
  • Activity and food hall – One hall is dedicated to activities and dining, with further food outlets around the venue. Family-friendly activities make it an easy day out with children.

The programme: talks on the Main Stage

How to get to Elbilmessen

MCH Messecenter Herning sits on the western edge of Herning, in the middle of Jutland. The address is Vardevej 1, 7400 Herning.

By car

Parking is free across more than 8,000 spaces. The organisers recommend three approach routes:
  • From the motorway (coming from Aarhus, Silkeborg, Vejle or Viborg): take exit 42, turn right onto Vardevej and continue to car park P1, P2 or P3.
  • Via Messevej from Herning town centre: turn right onto Vardevej, then right onto Mads Eg Damgaards Vej and into P3.
  • Via Chr. Ydes Vej from Herning town centre: take the second exit at the roundabout and follow Kaj Zartows Vej round to P1.
Arriving by EV? Chargers are available for 28 cars at P3 and 20 cars at P1. Bring your own cable. Disabled parking is located at P3.

By train

Herning Station is on the Danish rail network. From there, GoCollective trains run directly to MCH Messecenter Herning’s own station, just a few minutes’ walk from Entrance West. Plan your journey on rejseplanen.dk and check fares on dsb.dk.

By bus

  • Friday: regular city bus line 6 from Herning Station.
  • Saturday and Sunday: an extra line 6 service runs every 30 minutes between Herning Station (platform 7) and MCH Entrance West, from 10:00 to 18:00 on Saturday and until 17:00 on Sunday.
  • Fares: DKK 26 for adults and pensioners, DKK 13 for children. Rejsekort, cash tickets and Midttrafik’s ticket app are all accepted, and valid regional bus or train tickets can be used on the city bus (special train tickets excluded).

By taxi

For transfers from the station or your hotel, the venue recommends DanTaxi (+45 4848 4848), TaxaMidt (+45 9712 0777) and Vores Taxi (+45 7577 1111).

Coming from abroad

Visitors flying in will find Billund Airport the closest international gateway, roughly an hour’s drive from Herning, with Aarhus Airport as an alternative. Travellers from Norway and Sweden can combine a ferry crossing to northern Jutland with a drive south, which, in an EV, is a good real-world test of Denmark’s fast-charging network in itself.

Tips for your visit

  • Buy your ticket online and early. It is 20% cheaper than at the door, and Saturday tickets sold out at the first edition.
  • Prioritise your test drives. With around 200 cars available, head first to the models you are seriously considering, before queues build up.
  • Look for discounts. FDM members get 35% off tickets with a dedicated code.
  • Bring a charging cable if you plan to top up in the car park.
  • Check the programme on the day. The stage schedule is updated continuously, and brands hold their own events on their stands.
