Following Mika Hakkinen’s involvement with Verge Motorcycles‘ electric superbikes, another former Finnish racing driver is promoting electric sportsmanship: Kimi Raikkonen has been appointed Chief Performance Adviser of Zeekr.

His role is to promote the high-performance sports division of the Geely brand, particularly in making the Zeekr 001 FR even faster, the more performance-oriented version of the electric shooting brake we explored in the countryside of Stockholm, and you can know well at Copenhagen’s eCarExpo 2023.
Raikkonen to assist Zeekr 001 FR development
The Finnish driver will assist engineers in fine-tuning the chassis and powertrain of the super electric car, leveraging his motorsport experience over the years. He announced his partnership with the Chinese brand in a 24-second video.

The Zeekr 001 FR is Geely’s response to its Californian competitors, especially the Tesla Model S Plaid and the luxurious Lucid Air Sapphire.
As is well known, Raikkonen began his career in 2001 and concluded it in 2021, with a break between 2010 and 2011. He won the championship in 2007 with Ferrari and came close to winning more titles, often finishing second or third in the driver’s standings. Furthermore, he has also competed in the WRC and Nascar championships.
Despite his equally well-known reluctance to participate in public relations events, his commitment to Zeekr has included his presence at the official launch of the Zeekr 001 FR in Beijing on October 27, 2023.
