Launched in 2024 at Paris Motor Show and presentend as a new era of micromobility, the Mobilize Duo’s life cycle already came to an end.

Renault Group is dismantling the entire Mobilize Beyond Automotive, the brand launched in 2021 to explore and develop solutions for urban light mobility. Over the past few years, the division had acted as an incubator for new ideas and innovation beyond traditional car manufacturing. That phase has now come to an end as part of a broader reorganization within the group.

A Reorganization of Activities

Mobilize Beyond Automotive will no longer operate as an independent entity. The Mobilize name itself will remain in use, but exclusively within Mobilize Financial Services, which continues to handle financing, leasing and related mobility services.

All activities considered strategic for the commercial offer of Renault electric vehicles are being brought directly under the Renault umbrella. In particular, the division dedicated to charging solutions — a key pillar in supporting EV sales — will now report directly to Renault, under the supervision of Fabrice Cambolive, Renault Chief Growth Officer.

In practical terms, Renault Group is absorbing all Mobilize operations that are functional to the development, sale and ecosystem of its electric cars, while discontinuing those that fall outside this core objective.

Farewell to Zity and Mobilize Duo

Other projects under the Mobilize umbrella will instead be shut down entirely. This includes Zity, the car-sharing service that had already announced its exit from Milan and many European Cities (the service has never been available in Scandinavia).

Production will also stop for the Mobilize Duo electric quadricycle, along with its cargo-oriented Bento variant, just a few months after their market launch. The decision is attributed to limited financial prospects for the project.

Unveiled at Paris Motor Show and EICMA 2024 and reaching dealerships only in spring 2025, the Mobilize Duo was positioned as the spiritual successor to the Renault Twizy. Compared with most electric quadricycles, it offered above-average specifications, including longer driving range and the rare inclusion of airbags. However, pricing — from €9,990 to €12,500 — likely made it uncompetitive in a highly price-sensitive segment.
