Polestar has finally revealed its latest flagship, the Polestar 5, a four-door performance Grand Tourer based on the 2020 Precept concept.

With the Polestar 5, the vision of a high-performance electric vehicle comes to life.

A stunning electric Grand Tourer

The Polestar 5 is a five-meter-long Grand Tourer that faithfully carries forward the design of the Precept concept with minimal changes. Its aerodynamic, wing-shaped silhouette is inspired by aviation, featuring sleek surfaces. The low front is adorned with Polestar’s signature SmartZone and Pixel LED headlights.

A highlight is the massive panoramic glass roof, over two meters long and 1.25 meters wide, which creates a bright and spacious cabin. Instead of a traditional rear window, the Polestar 5 uses a digital rearview mirror and a virtual rear window display, similar to the Polestar 4. With frameless glass, retractable door handles, and a drag coefficient of just 0.24, the Polestar 5 is both efficient and stylish.

The car is available in six colors, including the matte shades Storm (dark gray) and Magnesium (silvery), which emphasize its striking appearance. The design is quintessentially Polestar, characterized by minimalism.

Performance and Powertrain

The Polestar 5 is built on a newly developed aluminum platform, the Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA). It features a massive 112 kWh lithium-ion battery and supports an 800 V architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging of up to 350 kW — charging from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes.

Available Versions

  • Polestar 5 Dual Motor: 748 hp, 812 Nm, 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, range up to 670 km (WLTP).
  • Polestar 5 Performance: 884 hp, 1,015 Nm, 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, range up to 565 km (WLTP).

Both versions have a top speed of 250 km/h and ride on Michelin tires for optimal performance. Advanced dampers from BWI underline its sporty character. With nearly 900 hp in the top version, the Polestar 5 directly targets the Porsche Taycan. Other competitors include models from NIO, the somewhat outdated eT7, and the exclusive Chinese sister car, the Lynk & Co Z10.

Polestar’s most stunning cabin yet

The cabin of the Polestar 5 is designed for both driver and passengers with a 4+1 seating configuration. The front seats, developed in collaboration with Recaro, offer a low seating position, excellent support, and comfort — a perfect blend of sport and luxury. Upholstery options include Charcoal MicroTech or Bridge of Weir Nappa leather, which is chrome-free and produced with a focus on animal welfare.

The rear seats match the front seats in design and comfort, offering options such as individual reclining, seat heating, ventilation, and massage. Raising the center armrest creates a fifth seat, making the car practical for longer journeys.

Sustainability is central to the cabin. Materials like ampliTex (a bio-based alternative to carbon fiber), NFPP, and recycled fishing nets (Econyl) reduce the car’s environmental footprint. The carpets are made from recycled PET, while the 365-liter boot (plus 62 liters in the frunk) is lined with lightweight materials that enhance recyclability.

Technology and Infotainment

The driver’s position is performance-oriented, with an upright steering wheel and a 9-inch driver display that adjusts with the steering column. A 9.5-inch head-up display completes the driver-focused experience.

The Polestar 5 is equipped with advanced technology, including a large 14.5-inch central touchscreen running Polestar’s version of Android Automotive with built-in Google and custom features like dynamic fields and shortcut interfaces.

For audio, customers can choose between a High Performance Audio system with 10 speakers or a Bowers & Wilkins system with 21 speakers and 1,680 watts, complemented by active noise cancellation.
