Recently, Kia has been fully focused on electric cars, with the presentation of models such as the new EV2 and several GT performance versions. Now, however, the Korean manufacturer is showing that there is still life left in its petrol and hybrid lineup. The first images of a facelifted Kia Niro for the 2027 model year have now been released.

For the Danish and Norwegian market, we expect it to be offered exclusively as a fully electric model.

A “mini” EV3

Although the Niro continues to be available as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric model globally, it is clear that Kia’s designers have taken strong inspiration from the brand’s latest electric cars.

The biggest change is seen at the front, where the new Niro features a more angular and upright design. The design language closely resembles the EV3 (test drive here), EV5, and EV9 (test drive here).

Seen from the side, only minimal changes have been made. The doors and basic body structure remain unchanged, but the rear has been clearly updated. Here, the Niro receives a completely new tailgate with a cleaner and more modern look. The license plate has been moved down into the rear bumper, and 18-inch wheels are now standard.

As for the technical specifications, Kia has not yet revealed any details, but they are expected to remain largely unchanged. The Niro is still expected to be available as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid alongside the fully electric version internationally. However, in Denmark, it is expected to be offered exclusively as an electric vehicle. The previous Niro EV was equipped with a 64 kWh battery, 204 hp, and a range of up to 460 km.

Larger screen in the cabin

The facelift does not stop at the exterior. The cabin also receives an upgrade. The driver is now greeted by Kia’s familiar integrated dual-screen setup with two 12.3-inch displays side by side, already known from the brand’s EV models.

At the same time, a new two-spoke steering wheel is introduced. Fortunately, there are still plenty of physical buttons present, which we are happy to see.
