Kia has presented the PV7 at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, its second dedicated, fully electric model in the Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup, extending the brand’s range into the light commercial vehicle segment. The PV7 will launch in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2027, with Danish market details expected closer to a local launch later that autumn.
Cargo and Passenger, built on a dedicated PBV platform
The PV7 comes in Cargo and Passenger variants, combining electric performance, flexible interior space and connected technology aimed at a wide range of business and mobility uses. It rides on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP.S platform for PBV models, with a flat floor that maximises usable cabin space, alongside productivity focused features designed to help customers work more efficiently day to day.

Kia CEO Ho Sung Song describes the PV7 as the next step in the company’s journey toward individualised mobility, building on the foundation laid by the PV5. He frames the PV7 as reaching beyond the vehicle itself by combining purpose built hardware, business tailored software and dedicated PBV services into a complete commercial solution aimed at higher productivity, greater flexibility and long term value for customers.
Built around hardware, software and service
Following on from the PV5, named International Van of the Year 2026, the PV7 expands both the scope and reach of Kia’s PBV offering. Its larger dimensions and broader range of use cases let Kia address an even wider set of customer needs, from fleets, logistics and shuttle transport through to small and medium businesses and individual mobility. Kia structures its PV7 strategy around three pillars: hardware, software and service.

On the hardware side, the E-GMP.S platform draws on Kia’s EV experience and its Flexible Body System to support a wide variety of body types, variants and specialised builds tailored to different operational needs. Kia’s dedicated PBV services aim to reduce total cost of ownership and improve uptime across different use cases. Following the 2027 launch, Kia plans to expand the PV7 lineup to 23 variants, with the larger PV9 following in 2029 to further extend the brand’s PBV programme.

Sang-dae Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia’s PBV Business Division, describes the PV7 as a business tailored tool built to deliver best in class EV characteristics, data driven solutions and a complete service experience, aimed at helping customers boost efficiency and productivity throughout their business lifecycle.
From PV5’s Open Box to PV7’s Tool Box concept
The PV7 is developed around Kia’s Tool Box concept, focused on building vehicles optimised for specific customer requirements. Where the PV5’s Open Box concept centres on urban flexibility, the PV7 is built to offer greater capacity and payload for more demanding, larger scale operations. The vehicle has also been designed around the practical needs of drivers, operators and passengers, with features aimed at reducing physical strain during entry, exit and loading, while improving usability, comfort and operational safety.
Power, range and charging
The PV7 is offered with either a 71.5 kWh or 96.2 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery pack. Depending on market and configuration, the electric powertrain produces up to 200 kW (272 hp) and 420 Nm, sent to the front wheels, with front wheel drive standard and an all wheel drive variant planned for later. The long range Cargo L2H1 variant offers more than 460 km of WLTP rated electric range.

The PV7’s 800 volt architecture allows charging from 10 to 80 percent in around 25 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger. As the first Kia model to do so, the PV7 also offers two charging ports: an AC/DC port at the front and an optional AC port on the rear side, adding flexibility across different parking and charging setups.
Pleos Connect and Gleo AI
The PV7 runs Kia’s Pleos Connect infotainment system, built on Android Automotive OS, offering a smartphone like in car experience with connected navigation, flexible screen layouts, an open app marketplace covering both Kia’s own apps and third party business apps, and over the air updates. The platform includes Gleo AI, a voice assistant that lets drivers control vehicle, navigation and messaging functions using natural language.
Practical EV features include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), letting owners power and charge tools, business equipment and other devices from interior and exterior outlets, along with a dedicated heavy load driving mode that helps the Cargo variant maintain stable handling as payload changes.
Cargo: built for logistics and fleet work
The PV7 Cargo is aimed at logistics, distribution, fleet operations and small to medium businesses, offered globally with two or three seats and prioritising capacity, accessibility and efficiency. The L2H1 variant offers up to 6.1 m³ of cargo space by VDA standard, while the L2H2 offers up to 8.0 m³. Payload reaches up to 1,165 kg for the L2H1 and up to 1,200 kg for the L1H1. L2 models have a loading height of 550 mm and room for up to three Euro pallets (800 x 1,200 mm).
Floor materials can be adapted to different use cases, and customers can choose between dual side hinged rear doors with full opening, useful for loading in tight spaces, or a traditional lift up tailgate. Smart Walk Away automatically closes the electric sliding door once the driver leaves with the smart key, while remote monitoring lets operators check cargo door status from a distance. A pass through partition and separate locking for the cargo doors add further security around the load.
Passenger: seating for up to nine
The PV7 Passenger targets crew transport, shuttle and rental use, tourism and family use, pairing comfort with versatility. The short version comes with seven seats as standard, configurable to eight, while the long version ships with eight seats as standard and can be configured for up to nine.

The seven seat model uses Long-Rail Easy Remove Seats for flexible cabin layouts, while the nine seat model can be specified with or without a fourth row. Separate rear climate control adds passenger comfort, alongside 100W USB-C charging ports and various storage solutions.
Safety and driver assistance
The PV7 comes with seven airbags, including a ceiling mounted front passenger airbag. Driver assistance features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist 2.0, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist 2.0, front, side and rear parking distance warning, remote smart parking assist, a rear view monitor and a surround view monitor, alongside a Built-in Cam 3.0 system for recording and reviewing driving footage.
Design: Opposites United, applied to a larger PBV
The PV7 follows Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy, pairing bold, upright proportions with an angular cab forward silhouette and a flat roofline. Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design, says the PV7 builds on the design principles introduced with the PV5, exploring how a larger commercial vehicle can feel more approachable, adaptable and closely connected to the people who rely on it every day.

At the front, the PV7 shares its black bonnet with the PV5, with a visual link between the A-pillars and daytime running lights emphasising its one box shape. Along the side, a visually floating roofline effect and a lowered front shoulder line improve the sense of openness and everyday usability, while large windows aid visibility around the car’s corners. At the rear, variant specific door and tailgate designs balance practicality with a consistent look, with replaceable bumper corners, wheel arch sections and door trim aimed at simpler repairs and shorter downtime.
A cabin built around Passenger and Cargo needs
Inside, the PV7 uses organised, purpose built zones tailored to Passenger and Cargo customers respectively, with 12.9 and 14.6 inch displays offering intuitive access to vehicle information and connected services. The driver’s area is designed for users getting in and out repeatedly through the day, with an A-pillar handle, an optimised seating position and thoughtfully designed steps.
The Cargo variant follows a Mobile Workspace concept, with a multi level dashboard and centre console maximising usable space, while the Passenger variant leans more toward comfort and refinement, with two tone surfaces, enclosed storage, ambient lighting and a centre console that can double as a table during breaks.
Colours and materials
Exterior colour options include the new Fjord Blue, Solid Moonrock Gray and Lush Green, alongside matte finishes aimed at standing out in the passenger van market. Inside, the Cargo variant comes standard in Onyx Black, with a Deep Navy option also available, while the Passenger variant offers Onyx Black One-Tone, Onyx Black-Gray Two-Tone and Sand & Taupe themes, alongside greater use of bio based and recycled materials.
