Samsung’s Bespoke AI washing machines combine onboard sensors, automatic programmes and a connected app to take some of the manual work out of laundry. The goal is a cycle that fits the load, with energy use that is easier to follow and fabrics that are treated with more care. The SmartThings app lets owners monitor part of the process from a smartphone.
How AI Wash+ adapts the cycle to the laundry
At the centre of the range is AI Wash+, which uses sensors and algorithms to analyse each load before and during washing. According to Samsung, the system detects the weight of the garments, estimates the level of soil and recognises certain fabric types, including cotton, delicates, towels, denim and outdoor clothing.

Based on that information, the machine adjusts water quantity, soaking time, the number of rinses and spin speed. Models with automatic dosing can also manage the amount of detergent on their own, which removes another step from the routine.
Tracking energy use with SmartThings
The Bespoke AI range includes tools meant to help owners monitor consumption and pick more efficient washing modes. AI Energy Mode, available through the SmartThings app, lets users check the energy used by the appliance and helps reduce it. For households that wash often, being able to see consumption figures and act on them is a practical advantage.
Steam programmes and fabric care
Compatible Bespoke AI models include steam programmes designed to improve hygiene. Samsung states that its steam hygiene cycle, called Vapore Igienizzante on the Italian market, uses steam inside the drum to remove up to 99.9% of specific bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
For synthetic fabrics there is the Less Microfiber programme. Samsung says it cuts the release of microplastics by up to 54%, a figure obtained under test conditions on polyester garments. Low temperature washing can also help limit energy consumption and preserve the look of clothes, provided the programme matches the fabric and the level of soil.
Touch display, remote control and Bixby
Interface design is part of the package. Models with a 7 inch touch display make programme selection and settings quicker, with the main information visible at a glance.
Through SmartThings, owners can control several functions from a smartphone, receive cycle notifications, open the consumption monitoring tools and operate the machine remotely. The range also supports Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant, so the washer can be operated by voice and fitted into a connected home without always using the physical controls.
