Morgan and Pininfarina have introduced Midsummer, an extraordinary vehicle celebrating over two centuries of coachbuilding expertise. This collaboration brings together two of the world’s most enduring coachbuilders, crafting a car that represents a perfect fusion of tradition and innovation. Midsummer, with its barchetta design, celebrates an iconic style of European coachwork and demonstrates the timeless silhouette flexibility of Morgan.

Craftsmen have worked tirelessly to create Midsummer by Morgan and Pininfarina , using over 400 layers of sustainably sourced teak, expertly laminated together to form sculpted wood structures surrounding the cockpit, creating a distinctive shoulder line. Each handcrafted aluminum shell requires over 250 hours of work, highlighting the artisanal mastery behind every single detail.

The end result is a stunning and unique design. Midsummer is limited to just 50 units, all already allocated to customers after a series of exclusive preview sessions. Each car is adorned with the “Pininfarina Fuoriserie” badge, a novelty for a production vehicle, emphasizing its exclusivity and craftsmanship.

Midsummer by Morgan and Pininfarina: Design and Features

Midsummer by Morgan and Pininfarina is based on the latest Morgan CX-Generation Bonded Aluminum platform, featuring a turbocharged six-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. This powerful engine ensures excellent performance and dynamic driving, in line with Morgan’s sports car tradition. The Midsummer’s barchetta design offers a sensory and immersive driving experience, fostering a greater connection with the car and the surrounding environment.

Midsummer’s presence is particularly pronounced in the rear three-quarter angle, where delicate yet exaggerated proportions impart an unusual elegance. The new surfaces, evident on the front and rear fenders, offer a subtle preview of Morgan’s evolving design language. The introduction of visible wood structures, demanded as one of the defining elements of the barchetta style, pays homage to Morgan’s long tradition of using fine materials.

With a dry weight of just 1,000 kg, Midsummer further enhances its dynamic capabilities with adjustable Nitron dampers, specifically tuned for this vehicle.

The new analog dials, handcrafted in the UK, and the Sennheiser audio system enhanced with new dashboard controls, offer a driving experience that blends tradition and technology. The 19-inch forged wheel, designed exclusively for Midsummer, ensures lightweight and solidity, while the new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires enhance driving dynamics.

The collaboration between Morgan and Pininfarina arose from a shared desire to create unique sports cars, celebrating the diversity of Morgan’s design and anticipating key elements of the automaker’s future design language. This collaboration has seamlessly blended British heritage with Pininfarina’s timeless design, creating a new masterpiece destined to become a cult classic.

Only 50 Midsummer units will be produced, all already assigned to customers. Each customer will have the opportunity to personalize their vehicle through individual consultations with Morgan designers, ensuring each Midsummer is a one-of-a-kind piece. Production will commence in 2024, the 115th anniversary of Morgan, and conclude in 2025.
