If you follow racing games at all, you’ve probably run into iRacing, widely regarded as one of the sharpest simulation racers on the market. With iRacing Arcade, the team behind it is turning its attention toward a more casual crowd, particularly players on console who’ve never really had a way into the iRacing ecosystem before.

iRacing Arcade release date lands August 21

iRacing Arcade launches on 21 August for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The existing PC version gets updated on the exact same day, bringing it up to full parity with the console release rather than leaving PC players with a separate, lesser version. Every platform gets the same headline additions: four player split-screen multiplayer, four new cars, and four new circuits spread across five different layouts.

A stylised take on iRacing’s simulation foundations

For console players coming to iRacing Arcade fresh, the game offers a stylised version of some of the world’s best known cars and circuits, while still holding onto the realistic fuel burn and tyre wear systems that iRacing’s simulation games are built around. That said, it’s clearly designed to be far more approachable than a full simulation. The pick up and play structure pairs with a physics model built to feel genuinely rewarding to learn and gradually master, rather than throwing newcomers straight into simulation level complexity.

iRacing Arcade career mode and online options

An extensive career mode sits at the centre of the single player experience, letting players build out their own racing legacy, right down to customising a home campus complete with garages, support buildings and their own race team. Once ready to test that progress against real opponents, players can head online for competitive 12 player races, or set up custom lobbies to race directly against friends. Rounding things out are global time trials, refreshed weekly, giving players a regular benchmark to measure their pace against the best times in the world.
