Danish charging network Clever is launching a new plan called Clever You, built around a simple idea: the electricity price a driver pays for charging should be the same, whether that charging happens at home or out on Clever’s nationwide network of more than 60,000 charging points.
One price, wherever you charge
If the current electricity spot price is, say, 1.00 kr per kWh, that’s the price the customer pays under Clever You, regardless of whether the electricity goes toward running the washing machine, charging the car at home, or plugging in at a Clever fast charger.
Søren Svejstrup, responsible for product strategy and commercial product development at Clever, explained that most drivers have grown used to planning their electricity use around the price at home, and Clever You essentially extends that same pricing logic out onto the charging network itself. In practice, that means customers can charge at the actual current electricity price no matter where they plug in, fast chargers included.

Clever You is aimed specifically at EV drivers who already track electricity prices and prefer to charge when power is cheapest. Not every driver wants that, though. Some would rather pay a fixed monthly amount and know exactly what to expect each month, while others want full control over exactly when their car charges, picking out the cheapest hours themselves.
With You added to the lineup, Clever is widening its range of charging plans so more drivers can find an option that actually matches how they use their car. Svejstrup noted that there are plenty of different ways to be an EV driver today, and argued that charging plans need to reflect that variety. In a market where many charging plans tend to look fairly similar to one another, he framed the goal as developing new products in step with what customers actually need and how Danes are really using their electric cars.
Intelligent Opladning plans charging around the cheapest hours automatically
Inside the Clever app, customers can check electricity prices hour by hour, up to 24 hours ahead. With Intelligent Opladning (Intelligent Charging), charging gets scheduled automatically for the cheapest available hours within whatever time window the customer sets, making it easier to take advantage of price swings without needing to track the market manually hour by hour.
Svejstrup pointed out that since a car typically sits parked and idle for many hours at a stretch anyway, it makes practical sense to charge specifically when electricity is cheap and plentiful. By making that price signal clear and visible to customers, Clever You aims to deliver cheaper charging while also helping shift electricity demand toward the hours when the wider energy system has more room to handle it.
