Audi has chosen 2025 to sharpen its compact electric SUV, the Q4 e-tron. The facelift aims to solidify the model’s position just as Tesla’s Model Y momentum softens, giving Ingolstadt room to push its all-electric strategy forward.

In the first half of the year, Audi’s EV sales grew by 32%, even as the brand’s overall deliveries slipped 5.9%. The Q4 e-tron led that electric upswing—so the mid-cycle refresh is designed to keep the pace, capitalize on shifting market dynamics, and directly challenge the Model Y’s dominance.

Design: subtle evolution, clearer identity

The facelift covers both body styles—the classic SUV and the sleeker Sportback—following a conservative but purposeful aesthetic update.

  • Shared front, distinct tails: From the B-pillar forward the two versions match; at the rear, the Sportback leans sportier, while the SUV prioritizes passenger and cargo space.
  • New face: Revised headlamps, re-sculpted bumpers, and a fresh honeycomb interpretation of the singleframe grille replace the previous horizontal bars.
  • Segmented DRL signature: Borrowing the brand’s latest light language as seen on the new A5, A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron, the Q4 adopts configurable, segmented daytime running lights—while avoiding the split-headlight look of the Q6 for a more classic appearance.
  • Practical touches stay: Conventional door handles remain, a nod to usability across Audi’s MEB-based electric family.

Technology: smarter infotainment, future-ready sensors

Prototype sightings point to a larger ADAS sensor mounted high on the windshield, signaling hardware readiness for more advanced driver-assist features. While a hands-off highway system isn’t confirmed for this update, the tech stack gets a meaningful upgrade where customers will feel it every day: infotainment.

The refreshed Q4 e-tron integrates an updated multimedia system with a built-in, AI-powered voice assistant developed in collaboration with ChatGPT. This assistant—already rolling out on other Group models such as ID.7 and Golf—promises more natural commands, quicker queries, and seamless control of in-car functions.

Range and lineup: broader entry points

Audi recently expanded the Q4 e-tron range with two new variants aimed at accessibility—particularly in Europe (availability may vary by market):

Model Battery (net) Claimed Range Positioning
Q4 35 e-tron 55 kWh ~355 km More attainable entry point
Q4 40 e-tron 63 kWh ~424 km Balanced range and value

These additions lower the threshold to Q4 ownership without undermining the model’s premium positioning, giving buyers a clearer step-up path within the lineup.
