Devoid of large car manufacturers and with nearly 70% of new car sales being electric, Denmark is hardly the first country that comes to mind when talking about supercars. Yet from Præstø, a small town overlooking the Baltic Sea two hours south of Copenhagen, comes one of the most fascinating cars of recent years in my opinion — the Zenvo Aurora.
The car is the third model from Zenvo, a small Danish company that pays homage to the country’s Viking heritage in its logo (a stylized Thor’s hammer), following the previous TSR-S with its 1,117 horsepower. With the Aurora, however, the Danish manufacturer has raised the bar even further, ushering in what it calls its “second era.” A project limited to just 100 units and two versions (Tur and Agil), it combines art, engineering, and pure mechanical passion — without compromise and, true to Nordic spirit, with a certain dose of logic and functionality.
The car made its first appearance, still camouflaged, at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, but I took advantage of living in Denmark to have it explained to me by Jens Sverdrup, Chairman and COO of Zenvo Automotive, who begins with a touch of patriotic pride:
“Denmark is globally recognized for its pioneering and cutting-edge approach to design. Zenvo is proud to represent Denmark in the automotive industry on a global platform, adopting a Danish and broader Nordic approach to innovation — using technology and design in their purest form to create a final product that is beautiful, simple, and effective. But who is Zenvo?
Although it’s been around for almost 20 years, Zenvo is still a name known only to true enthusiasts. Yet it’s one to watch — both for its philosophy and for its cars.
“Zenvo Automotive is a limited-edition hypercar manufacturer based in Præstø, Denmark, founded in 2007. The company was created with the aim of combining the latest technologies and innovations with an ‘analog’ feel, offering the driver a genuine connection and breathtaking performance,” says Jens.

The first two models, the ST1 and the TS1 GT, were already impressive in terms of design and performance — as well as exclusivity (only 15 units of the ST1 were ever built).
A clean slate
While Zenvo has drawn on the experience gained from the TS1 GT and its derivatives (TSR-S and TSR-GT), the Aurora is something completely different — so much so that Sverdrup calls it a “clean-sheet hypercar.” No components or systems from previous projects were reused; everything was designed from scratch, following a very clear philosophy of zero compromise.

In particular, the current Zenvo — and the Aurora in particular — is built on three pillars:
- Balance of extremes – Designing and developing every phase with the clear philosophy of bringing each parameter to its optimal level in parallel with all other elements, without compromise.
- Nordic innovation – The Nordic countries have long been considered among the most innovative in the world, with several of Europe’s most valuable companies coming from this region.
- Danish design – The Danish approach to design is globally recognized and respected, from world-class products to services and architecture.
Two souls: Tur and Agil
As mentioned, the Aurora comes in two variants: the more elegant Tur (Danish for “journey”) and the more extreme Agil (“agile”). Two complementary characters — the first designed for high-speed touring, the second for those seeking maximum lightness and track performance.

As Christian Brandt, Zenvo’s Head of Design, explains:
“Aurora’s chassis and components are works of art, and we didn’t want to hide them under a monolithic design. It’s like a fine watch or a skeletal motorcycle — the inner workings are the fascinating part.”
And indeed, the Aurora proudly displays its mechanical soul: the chassis, engine, and suspension are all visible, forming a sculpture of carbon and titanium.
Form follows function
Aurora’s styling perfectly embodies the “form follows function” philosophy — a hallmark of early 20th-century modernism and later embraced by automotive design. The lines are clean and proportional, yet always serve aerodynamic efficiency. The Agil version was born from this very principle — a logical, no-frills approach to achieve maximum downforce and aerodynamic stability — while the Tur retains the same technical DNA but with a more refined touch.
The front end is a masterpiece of multilayer carbon fiber, featuring profiles inspired by Formula 1, a large front splitter, and a multi-plane wing to enhance downforce. LED lighting, a large cooling grille, and ultra-light mirrors all contribute to its unmistakable look.
The heart: Mjølner
The previously mentioned Thor’s hammer isn’t just a symbol in the Zenvo logo. Mjølner — the name of the powertrain — literally means “Thor’s Hammer” in Danish (and derives from the Old Norse Mjöllnir). The name alone speaks volumes about the Danish hypercar’s power ambitions.

At a time when most manufacturers have abandoned them, Zenvo proudly presents a 6.12-liter quad-turbo V12, designed to run on synthetic fuels and paired with two electric motors for a total output of 1,850 hp (1,250 hp from the V12 alone) and a top speed exceeding 400 km/h.
Developed in collaboration with Mahle Powertrain, the V12 can operate with synthetic fuels, emphasizing both performance and sustainability.
“We wanted Aurora to excel in every aspect, becoming a car our clients truly desire to experience and drive. The feedback was clear: Aurora — our launch and ‘halo’ model for this new Zenvo era — had to have a V12, and it had to be a bespoke engine. It will be the most powerful and cleanest production V12 ever built, compliant with global emission standards. Moreover, it will serve as the foundation for our future projects, with other displacements and variants already in development.”
