Volkswagen is expanding its electric line-up with the launch of the all-new ID. Cross. The compact EV also marks the end of the popular T-Cross, which is now replaced by a fully electric mini SUV offering up to 426 km of WLTP range and a starting price of DKK 209,995. In Denmark
More space than the T-Cross
The ID. Cross becomes the smallest SUV in Volkswagen’s electric ID. family, but despite its compact dimensions, Volkswagen promises significantly more space and comfort than the outgoing T-Cross.
Although only slightly larger externally, the ID. Cross makes far better use of Volkswagen’s dedicated MEB+ electric platform. The result is a spacious five-seat cabin and a generous 475-litre luggage compartment. There’s also a practical 22-litre front frunk beneath the bonnet, ideal for storing charging cables and smaller items.
Volkswagen highlights the 2.60-metre wheelbase, which provides noticeably better legroom and a more open cabin than the previous T-Cross.
The ID. Cross will be available with two battery options and three power outputs.
The entry-level version features a 37 kWh battery paired with a 116 hp electric motor, delivering an estimated 315 km WLTP range.
More powerful versions receive a 52 kWh battery producing up to 211 hp, increasing the maximum WLTP range to 426 km.
Charging speeds reach Up to 90 kW DC (37 kWh battery), to 105 kW DC (52 kWh battery) OR 11 kW AC charging as standard
Volkswagen says the larger battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 24 minutes under ideal conditions.
New “Pure Positive” design language
The ID. Cross introduces Volkswagen’s new Pure Positive design language, which will also appear on future models.
Inside, the focus is on a more premium atmosphere with soft-touch materials, fabric-covered dashboard and door panels, and a brand-new Innovision infotainment system. Volkswagen has also returned to physical buttons for key vehicle functions, making daily operation more intuitive.
Versions equipped with the 52 kWh battery can tow up to 1,200 kg.
The ID. Cross also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), allowing the battery to power external electrical devices with up to 3.6 kW.
Volkswagen’s latest Connected Travel Assist system uses online data to keep the vehicle centred in its lane, automatically adjust speed according to speed limits, and maintain a safe distance to traffic ahead.
For the first time, the system can also recognise traffic lights and automatically bring the vehicle to a complete stop when a red light is detected.
The model additionally features One Pedal Driving, allowing drivers to control acceleration and deceleration almost entirely using the accelerator pedal.
Volkswagen targets the growing wave of Chinese EVs
The ID. Cross is set to become one of Volkswagen’s most important models in Europe’s highly competitive compact electric SUV segment.
With prices starting at DKK 209,995 a driving range of up to 426 km, fast charging capabilities, and a premium-focused interior, Volkswagen is clearly aiming at buyers considering new Chinese electric SUVs such as the Leapmotor B10, while also competing with models including the Renault 4 E-Tech and Opel Frontera Electric.
The new Volkswagen ID. Cross will arrive at European dealerships in November 2026.
