The new Porsche Cayenne Electric made its live debut in Dubai, showcasing a world-first blend of extreme electric performance, advanced technology and impressive off-road capability. Against the desert dunes, Porsche’s first fully electric Cayenne proved it can pair more than 1,100 hp with unprecedented traction and stability on sand and steep slopes.
Desert test: extreme off‑road as a proving ground
Dubai’s dramatic landscape offered the ideal setting to push the Cayenne Electric to its limits. Roughly 60 minutes from the city, shifting sand and steep dunes tested the SUV’s chassis, powertrain and controls — and the results were striking: agile handling, precise control and abundant power even in critical off-road conditions.

At the heart of the Cayenne Electric is a reimagined E‑Performance system. The Turbo model delivers 850 kW (1,156 hp) and a massive 1,500 Nm of torque instantly. Traction is handled by Porsche’s electronic all‑wheel‑drive system — ePTM — which reacts up to five times faster than conventional mechanical systems.
Dedicated off‑road modes (Gravel, Sand, Mud, Rocks) work alongside motorsport‑derived features such as direct oil cooling for the rear electric motor, ensuring consistent performance in extreme temperatures.
Technical highlights
| Technology | Description |
|---|---|
| ePTM (Porsche Traction Management) | Ultra‑responsive electronic all‑wheel drive |
| Off‑Road Package | Improved approach angles, reinforced skirts, optimized air intakes |
| 113 kWh Battery | Dual‑plate cooling per module and active thermal management |
| Porsche Active Ride | Active suspension that keeps the body level even on sand |
| PASM | Adaptive air suspension with electronically controlled dampers |
| PTV Plus | Electronic torque vectoring and active braking for lateral stability |
Performance beyond the tarmac
During desert trials the Cayenne Electric tackled slopes exceeding 25 degrees in ambient temperatures above 40°C, running on standard summer tyres. The PASM adaptive air suspension allows ride height to increase up to 245 mm, improving ground clearance and wheel travel for demanding off‑road use.

With the optional Porsche Active Ride installed, the vehicle’s body remains remarkably stable; surface irregularities are absorbed at the wheel level, keeping the chassis flat and optimising load distribution across all tyres for improved traction.
The Cayenne Electric blends Porsche’s trademark on‑road dynamism with genuine off‑road competence. It offers the sharp handling and rapid responses expected of a Porsche on paved roads, while delivering immediate traction, balance and responsiveness when the terrain gets rough — redefining the electric SUV experience.
