Leapmotor continues its aggressive expansion across Europe. Following the B05, the Chinese manufacturer has now announced another model for the Danish market: the Leapmotor B03X, a compact electric SUV arriving this autumn.
While final pricing remains under wraps, Leapmotor makes no secret of its ambition: deliver surprising range, generous equipment, and substantial space at a price that challenges established brands.
Compact dimensions, surprising interior space
The B03X measures 4.27 meters in length, positioning it squarely in the popular B segment where many Danish families and commuters seek a vehicle that doesn’t consume too much urban space yet remains practical for daily life. Leapmotor emphasizes clever space utilization as a key differentiator.
The wheelbase spans 2,605 millimeters with a completely flat cabin floor, creating 33 storage compartments throughout the interior. The cargo area offers 405 liters of space, but Leapmotor adds an innovative touch: a sealed, washable Gigabox underneath the floor provides an additional 105 liters. This waterproof storage solves a genuine problem for EV owners who need somewhere to stow wet charging cables, muddy boots, and sports equipment without contaminating the main cabin.
Fold the rear seats and the cargo volume expands to 1,545 liters, while the load bed extends to 2.52 meters when fully configured. Space efficiency remains the B03X’s strongest argument for practical everyday use.
Range and charging performance
The B03X features a 197 horsepower electric motor paired with two LFP battery options. The base variant offers a 39.8 kWh battery with an estimated range up to 292 kilometers under WLTP standards. The larger 53 kWh battery extends this to up to 382 kilometers, a respectable figure for a compact SUV at an affordable price point.
Rapid DC charging reaches 100 or 133 kW depending on battery specification, with Leapmotor promising 10 to 80 percent recharge in 21 minutes. These figures won’t impress long distance road trip enthusiasts, but for typical Danish usage patterns centered on commuting, shopping, and shorter family journeys, they deliver adequate practicality.
Equipment and design
The B03X arrives in two trim levels: Life and Design. Depending on configuration, buyers can access features including a 14.6 inch touchscreen, heat pump technology, 360 degree camera, ambient lighting, and 21 driver assistance systems. The styling adopts a modern, playful approach, perhaps most evident in the LED rear lights that Leapmotor describes as inspired by a smiling emoji.
The price question
The decisive factor remains pricing. If Leapmotor executes correctly on cost, the B03X could become the vehicle that makes it difficult to justify paying over 300,000 Danish kroner for a practical electric SUV. Final Danish pricing and specification details will arrive closer to the autumn launch. This is when the B03X’s true competitive threat to established manufacturers becomes clear.
