Danish electric vehicle owners now have a streamlined path to summer road trips across Europe. Ford’s partnership with Octopus Electroverse grants access to more than one million public charging points across 31 countries through a single app and physical card. The arrangement maintains existing IONITY benefits while removing the friction of managing multiple regional payment systems.
Self-drive holidays have surged 40 percent among European travellers in recent years, according to the travel industry and FDM Travel. Approximately 1.6 million Danish motorists are expected to take to the roads this summer alone. Rising airfares and the continent’s expanding EV infrastructure have made electric vehicle holidays more economical and flexible than flights combined with rental cars, particularly when fuel costs remain elevated.
Germany and Italy lead as the preferred destinations for Danish road trips, followed by Sweden, France and Austria.
Consolidating the charging ecosystem
Cross-border EV travel has historically required tedious preparation. Drivers assembled collections of regional charging apps and payment cards, each demanding separate registration and billing details. The Electroverse arrangement eliminates that complexity.

The single app and card unlock access to more than 1,200 individual charging operators, including major networks such as IONITY, Fastned and Allego. Payment processes automatically in the background at transparent rates typically lower than previous fragmented systems.
The Electroverse app integrates directly into vehicle navigation screens via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system routes drivers around congestion and directs them toward optimal charging stations based on vehicle charging type, speed and user preferences.
Rapid charging for longer routes
Ford’s longer range electric models, including the Explorer, Capri and Mustang Mach-E, benefit from IONITY Premium access. New customers receive a complimentary three month trial of premium rates, with the subscription priced at 90 kroner monthly thereafter.
Extended warranty and roadside support
All new fully electric Ford passenger vehicles include a five year warranty covering up to 100,000 kilometres and an eight year battery warranty extending to 160,000 kilometres. Ford’s 24-hour roadside assistance operates across Europe 365 days annually, included at no cost for the first two years on new vehicles. Coverage includes puncture repairs, towing, replacement vehicles and hotel accommodation if travel is interrupted.
