Polestar has kicked off 2026 with a record-breaking quarter, delivering 13,126 vehicles in the first three months of the year, marking the brand’s strongest Q1 performance to date and a 7% jump on the same period in 2025.

Momentum from a record year
The milestone builds on what Polestar described as a record full year in 2025, and comes despite a turbulent global backdrop. CEO Michael Lohscheller was candid about the headwinds while celebrating the result: “Our Q1 2026 figures demonstrate resilience in a market shaped by increasingly difficult conditions and ongoing geopolitical developments.”
Key markets driving the growth include Australia, Germany, Sweden, South Korea, and the United Kingdom — all of which posted particularly strong figures in the quarter.
Polestar’s retail expansion is accelerating just as fast as its sales. The brand now operates 230 active locations worldwide, up from 154 at the close of Q1 2025 — a 50% increase in a single year. By the end of 2026, Polestar expects to reach around 250 locations, adding a further 20% to its current footprint.
Denmark’s Polestar 4 moment
In Denmark, the numbers are even more striking. While the broader EV market grew a healthy 14.5% in Q1 2026, the Polestar 4 (our latest review here) left the field behind with new registrations surging 142% year-on-year. March was especially dramatic, with Polestar 4 sales spiking nearly 300% compared to the same month last year.
To match the momentum, Polestar Denmark opened its eighth Space — this time in Sønderborg, in partnership with Pedersen & Nielsen — completing the brand’s full nationwide coverage across the country.
