Citroën has long been synonymous with innovation and affordability in the automotive world. With the launch of the new Citroën C3 2024, the French automaker once again reinforces its commitment to delivering value to consumers. Building on the success of its electric variant, which stands as one of the most economical electric cars on the market, the latest iteration of the Citroën C3 returns to its roots as one of the most budget-friendly petrol cars.

There aren’t scandinavian prices yet (and with are not sure to have the petrol version) but in the other markets the car har prices starting at €14,990, or 111.888 DKK.

Stellantis, the parent company of Citroën, has set its sights on competing with the likes of the popular Dacia Sandero, while also aiming to maintain a strong presence in the B segment and meet the evolving preferences of European consumers who increasingly favor smaller vehicles.

Engines and Trims of the New Citroën C3

The 2024 Citroën C3 comes equipped with a 1.2-liter turbo petrol PureTech engine producing 100 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This engine has undergone a complete redesign to enhance performance and reliability. With the addition of a new timing chain, the engine promises improved accessibility and versatility while aiming for emissions as low as 126 g of CO2 per km.

The vehicle is available in two trims:

  • You: Comes with standard features including LED headlights, Advanced Comfort suspension, Active Safety Brake, Citroën Head-Up Display, Smartphone Station for infotainment, electric mirrors, automatic lighting, Rear Parking Assist, rear spoiler, speed limiter/cruise control, manual air conditioning, and six airbags.
  • Max: Adds two-tone paint with contrast roof, roof rails, front and rear protective plates, 17” diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED rear lights, tinted rear windows, 10.25” touch screen with new infotainment and 3D navigation, Advanced Comfort TEP/fabric gray metropolitan seats, 60/40 split rear seats, automatic climate control, wireless charging, rearview camera, electrochromic rearview mirror, electrically folding and heated exterior mirrors, automatic wipers, and intelligent headlights.

The Most Comfortable C3 Yet

Continuing the trend set by its electric counterpart, the new Citroën C3 2024 prioritizes comfort, aiming to enhance the already renowned smooth driving experience with an “insulated cocoon effect” from external disturbances.

For the first time, the C3 features Advanced Comfort suspension across all its versions. These suspensions utilize progressive hydraulic dampers in place of traditional mechanical end stops. This technological solution allows engineers greater flexibility in suspension tuning, providing a smoother on-road experience, particularly at low speeds where it excels at neutralizing road irregularities, making it ideal for city driving.

Complementing the suspension system are the Advanced Comfort seats, designed for enhanced ergonomics and postural comfort. Revised to provide better lateral support, these seats incorporate an additional 10mm of foam for a softer, more comfortable feel from the moment you sit down, ensuring adequate support regardless of the distance traveled.

Additionally, the C-Zen Lounge Concept, known from the electric C3, returns here, with a simplified, welcoming, and ergonomic front cabin design aimed at reducing cognitive load and offering greater tranquility. The dashboard features two levels, with the upper portion upholstered in fabric (Sofa Design), while the central part eschews traditional instrument clusters in favor of a new Head-Up Display that reflects vehicle information onto a glossy black surface.

Despite growing 19mm in length and 100mm in height compared to its predecessor, measuring 4.01 meters long, the new C3 offers more interior space. The seats are raised by 76mm compared to the outgoing model, providing a higher, more commanding seating position and increased headroom. The boot starts from 310 liters, offering ample storage capacity.

Technology

The 2024 Citroën C3 is also more connected, offering two levels of infotainment. The You version comes with a Smartphone Station as standard, featuring integrated smartphone support that allows drivers to dock their device and automatically launch a dedicated app via NFC, enabling functions such as telephony, radio, navigation, and music. The steering wheel features a Home button for easy access to the home screen.

In the Max trim, a 10.25” touch screen with smartphone-inspired widget architecture and wireless CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility takes center stage.

In terms of safety, standard features include:

  • Active Safety Brake, operational from 5 to 135 km/h;
  • Active Lane Departure Warning;
  • Speed Sign Recognition;
  • Electric Parking Brake;
  • Hill Start Assist.
