MG used the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 to present two concept cars that offer an early look at where the brand intends to take its lineup over the coming years: the MG GO! and the MG Cyber. The reveal marks another chapter in MG’s more than 100 year British history, and both concepts point toward production models that combine the marque’s motorsport roots with newer electric architecture.
MG GO! previews an upcoming electric hatchback in the B segment, expected to reach the market in 2027. Rather than simply functioning as a styling exercise, the concept is presented as an attempt to make electric cars more accessible and appealing to a wider audience. Its design draws on retrofuturistic cues taken from some of MG’s more expressive models from the mid twentieth century, most notably the MGB GT.
The second concept, MG Cyber Concept, takes a different direction. It previews a performance oriented SUV in the D segment, built for a market increasingly shaped by electric mobility. According to MG, the concept reflects a broader idea within the brand: that driving enjoyment is no longer tied to one specific body style, but can be built into a wider range of vehicles and lifestyles.
A hatchback with character
MG GO! was developed by the team at MG Design Centre in London, under design director Carl Gotham. The stated intention was not to build a nostalgic showpiece, but a compact, modern car with strong emotional appeal, aimed at standing out in a segment where competition is intense.

The concept borrows influence from earlier sporting MG models, including the MGB GT, MG Metro Turbo, MG ZR and MG EX4. Its design language stays deliberately simple, relying on a handful of strong visual elements rather than a long list of details, echoing what MG describes as the balance the MGB GT once struck between elegance, driving pleasure and restraint.

Carl Gotham summarised the brief behind the concept by saying the goal was to create something compact and modern, yet warm and immediately likeable, a car that captures what people associate with MG without leaning on nostalgia for its own sake.
A flagship built around performance
MG Cyber Concept is positioned as a flagship for the brand, previewing a large electric SUV. MG points to two reference points from its own history as inspiration: the EX181 record breaking car, tied to the brand’s pursuit of speed, and the innovation that MG says has continued to shape the company since.

The concept is built around the idea of pairing strong performance with everyday usability, a car intended to work equally well in city traffic, on long journeys and on roads where driving enjoyment takes priority.

Its proportions and surfacing are meant to communicate both strength and refinement, with design elements intended to suggest motion even when the car is standing still.
