Leapmotor B03X price starts at 149,990 kr in Denmark

When Leapmotor confirmed the B03X for Denmark earlier this summer, one crucial detail was still missing: the price. That gap has now been filled, and the Chinese SUV is shaping up to be one of the cheapest electric cars on the Danish market.

Cheapest electric SUV Denmark: another jolt to the price war

Leapmotor is turning up the pressure on Denmark’s EV price war another notch. The new B03X starts at just 149,990 kr when it reaches Danish dealers in early October, a strikingly low figure for a 4.27 metre, five door SUV with a 405 litre boot and a genuinely substantial standard equipment list. That low price, unsurprisingly, comes with a trade-off.

The base B03X Life runs a 39.8 kWh LFP battery with a WLTP range of up to 292 km. The motor produces 176 hp, and fast charging tops out at 100 kW. That combination makes it a tough sell for drivers doing frequent long motorway trips, but the price could make it a genuinely interesting option as a commuter car or a household’s second vehicle.

Things get more compelling with the Life ProMax at 179,990 kr. Here, the battery grows to 53 kWh, range extends to 382 km, and motor output rises to 197 hp, with maximum charging power also increasing to 133 kW. That’s an extra 30,000 kr over the base car, but on paper it looks like a noticeably more usable version of the same SUV.

The range topping Design trim costs 189,990 kr and adds a 360 degree camera, heated steering wheel and seats, electrically adjustable front seats, and 18 inch alloy wheels.

A lot of car for the money

Even the base B03X comes with a 14.6 inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, a reversing camera, wireless phone charging and app control.

Space is one of the car’s strongest selling points too. The boot holds 405 litres, with an additional 105 litre waterproof storage box hidden under the floor. Folding the rear seats down extends total capacity to 1,545 litres.

Back when this model was first covered in June, the open question was whether Leapmotor could hit a price low enough to genuinely challenge established brands. That question now has an answer. At 149,990 kr, the B03X is hard to ignore. What remains to be seen is whether build quality, software, driver assistance systems and real world range can keep pace with such an aggressive price tag.
