Hyundai has officially introduced the Ioniq 3, an all-electric compact hatchback designed specifically to meet the evolving demands of the European market. Developed with a focus on intuitive mobility and daily practicality, the Ioniq 3 debuts the brand’s new “Art of Steel” design language, blending sculptural aesthetics with the proven efficiency of the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

“Aero Hatch” Design and Aerodynamic Efficiency

The Ioniq 3 introduces the “Aero Hatch” silhouette, a profile engineered to balance bold personality with high-level aerodynamic performance. The vehicle features a low-slung front end and a roofline that extends straight over the cabin before tapering into a seamless “ducktail” spoiler.

This design contributes to a class-leading drag coefficient (Cx) of 0.263, enhancing both energy efficiency and acoustic comfort. The exterior is further distinguished by Hyundai’s signature Parametric Pixel lighting and a unique four-dot light signature representing the letter “H” in Morse code—a nod to the brand’s identity within the Ioniq family.

Performance, Range, and Charging

Built on a 400-volt architecture, the Ioniq 3 offers two battery configurations to suit different driving lifestyles:

  • Standard Range: Provides a WLTP-estimated range of 344 km.
  • Long Range: Offers up to 496 km (WLTP), positioning it at the top of its segment.

Charging capabilities are a highlight for the compact segment. DC fast charging allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in approximately 29 minutes. For urban and destination charging, the vehicle supports AC charging up to 22 kW, allowing drivers to take full advantage of faster public AC pillars. The electric motor delivers up to 107.8 kW (147 hp) with 250 Nm of torque, reaching a top speed of 170 km/h.

Interior: The “Furnished Space” Concept

Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the Ioniq 3 utilizes its 2.68-meter wheelbase and flat floor to provide an interior volume typically reserved for larger vehicle segments. Following the “Furnished Space” philosophy, the cabin is designed to feel like a modern living environment.

In particular, The cabin features recycled and bio-based textiles inspired by 1970s Italian forniture. The boot offers a segment-leading 441-liter capacity, supplemented by the “Megabox”—a hidden storage compartment located beneath the load floor.

Available features include Relaxation seats, ventilated and heated seating, a Bose Premium sound system, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Advanced Technology and Safety

The Ioniq 3 is the first Hyundai model in Europe to feature the Pleos Connect infotainment system. Based on Android Automotive OS (AAOS), the system is accessed via high-resolution displays of up to 14.6 inches.

The technological suite includes Hyundai Digital Key 2 for smartphone access, an integrated EV route planner, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality. Safety is prioritized through the Hyundai SmartSense package, offering Level 2 autonomous driving as standard, including Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2), Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), and Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM).

Designed and Produced in Europe

“With Ioniq 3, we are bringing our electric vehicle expertise to a new segment,” stated Xavier Martinet, President & CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe. “Designed on a European scale, this model combines class-leading range and aerodynamics with extraordinary levels of space and practicality.”

The Ioniq 3 will be manufactured at the Hyundai Motor Türkiye plant in İzmit. Customers can choose from eleven exterior colors and various wheel options (16 to 19 inches), including a sportier N Line variant for those seeking a more dynamic aesthetic.
