Vans will be part of Elbilmessen for the first time this year, with a new concept developed together with exhibitors. The electric car show takes place at MCH Messecenter Herning from 2 to 4 October 2026.
Van brands join the show for the first time
Visitors to this year’s Elbilmessen will be able to see vans from brands including BYD, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Maxus, Mercedes, Renault, Toyota and Volkswagen. The new section is the result of a collaboration between Elbilmessen and its exhibitors, who saw an expansion into vans as a natural next step for the show.
Over 40 percent of new Danish vans are now electric
Nicolai Løje Farganis, marketing manager at Volkswagen Erhvervsbiler Danmark, says it makes strong sense for Elbilmessen to sharpen its focus on vans, pointing out that the market is changing quickly. Where electric vans were a niche product only a few years ago, more than 40 percent of new vans registered in Denmark today are electric, a sign that businesses increasingly trust the technology and recognise both its operational and financial benefits. He expects electric vans to take up an even bigger share of Danish roads in the coming years.

Farganis adds that Volkswagen is looking forward to showing how far electric van development has come, noting that many visitors are positively surprised by the range, comfort and driving characteristics of a modern electric van once they try one. At the show, visitors will be able to experience a wide range of the market’s most interesting models under one roof, compare them directly, and get their questions answered. Volkswagen Erhvervsbiler Danmark will bring Denmark’s best selling electric van, the ID. Buzz Cargo, along with the new e-Transporter in both panel van and crew cab versions.
A natural development, says RN Danmark
RN Danmark, which represents Renault, Dacia and Alpine, also highlights the many advantages driving strong demand for electric vans. Søren Hyltoft, Head of Communications & Marketing at RN Danmark, says demand for electric vans is high and likely to keep accelerating, provided manufacturers offer the right products to match growing customer readiness. He points to Renault’s own Master and the upcoming Trafic as examples of electric vans that now match traditional models on load capacity, with a range of over 400 kilometres making the switch realistic for many businesses, on top of driving characteristics that make electric vans genuinely enjoyable to drive.
Hyltoft welcomes Elbilmessen’s broader scope, describing the expansion into vans as a natural complement to the show’s existing focus on electric passenger cars, as well as to Transportmessen, which centres on heavier transport, with Herning offering a strong geographic base for the event. RN Danmark is particularly looking forward to presenting what it considers a genuine gamechanger in electric mobility.
A Danish debut for the new Trafic E-Tech Electric
That reference points to RN Danmark’s Danish premiere of the all new Trafic E-Tech Electric, brought directly from its unveiling at the IAA Transportation trade show in Hannover. RN Danmark will also bring a Master and a converted Renault 4 Van to the show.
Test drives available at the new van section
Alongside the vehicles on display, the new van section at Elbilmessen will also offer test drives. Elbilmessen takes place at MCH Messecenter Herning from 2 to 4 October 2026.
