Seeing the Dacia Hipster Concept in person is a genuine “wiw” moment. Whether you consider it an electric city car or a European kei car, it’s impossible not to be impressed.
Unlike many concept cars that feel like futuristic showpieces, the Dacia Hipster Concept is real. You can touch it, get inside, and experience it firsthand. At just three meters long, it surprises immediately with a feeling of space, thanks to smart proportions and vertical lines that make it seem far bigger than its dimensions suggest. In a market dominated by ever-larger, heavier, and more expensive electric vehicles, this compact design flips convention on its head.

Dacia Hipster: the popular Car in XXI century
Dacia starts from a blank canvas with the Hipster Concept and presents a daring idea: reinventing the everyday car for modern times. The approach is simple yet complete. Accessibility here doesn’t just mean price—it also refers to usability, practicality, and real sustainability.

Step inside and the interior immediately impresses. Even passengers near two meters tall fit comfortably, both front and rear. This isn’t magic—it’s careful design: a vertical windshield, slim yet comfortable seats, large windows, and a panoramic roof that floods the cabin with light. The seating height is just right, entry is effortless, and visibility is excellent. It’s easier to get in than many compact sedans.
The cabin is minimal, robust, and free of unnecessary screens or embellishments, yet fully customizable with the YouClip system. Eleven attachment points allow you to add cup holders, lights, or storage containers—all in a coherent, practical design language.

Your smartphone serves as key, radio, and navigation system. Simply dock it and pair a Bluetooth speaker—the “Bring Your Own Device” philosophy keeps electronics minimal, reducing weight, cost, and potential issues.
Clever Cargo Solutions
The trunk is another highlight. Starting at 70 liters, it expands to 500 liters by folding the rear bench—enough to fit a washing machine. The double-opening tailgate and well-thought-out geometry make it ideal for bulky items. This isn’t concept-car fantasy; it’s real-life practicality.

The Hipster Concept is light in every sense—weight, materials, and mindset. Shorter than a Twingo but seating four adults, it weighs 20% less than a Dacia Spring and aims to halve the carbon footprint of conventional electric vehicles. The secret lies in using fewer materials, reducing paint, and maximizing recyclability.
Recycled Starkle® plastic covers the side panels, rear lights are integrated under the tailgate without glass, and painted surfaces are kept to a minimum. This is “design to cost,” but executed intelligently and consistently.
A New Standard
This isn’t a car built to impress—it’s built to perform. It doesn’t aim to be a status symbol, though it might become one. It represents an honest approach to mobility: agile, simple, and practical. Designed for daily distances under 40 km—covering the needs of 90% of European drivers—it fits into parking spaces, budgets, and everyday life seamlessly.
The production version is expected in 2026 at under €20,000 (150,000 DKK). For now, the Dacia Hipster Concept stands out as nothing like what’s on the road today—but exactly like what we truly need.
