From September 27th to 29th, 2024, the Concorso d’Eleganza Varignana 1705 returns, the exhibition of vintage cars held at the Palazzo di Varignana, in Castel San Pietro Terme, in the province of Bologna (Northern Italy).

What to expect from the 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza Varignana 1705

This marks the second edition of the contest, following the inaugural one in 2023, created to celebrate the finest automobiles produced before 1973 and to showcase their style and elegance amidst the hills of Bologna.

Like in 2023, the 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza Varignana 1705 will take place over three days within the rich Bolognese palace, positioning itself as a “season finale” among events for vintage car enthusiasts.

And, as in 2023, there will be a jury to crown the Best of Show car: in 2023 it was the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 S Berlinetta Touring from the Lopresto Collection.

The new edition features a lineup of 30 vintage cars divided into six classes, for greater variety and prestige.

The list is still in the selection phase, and applications are still open with all the information available on the official website, while the final list will be published in June 2024.

As mentioned, the contest takes place within the Palazzo di Varignana, which also serves as a hotel with luxurious accommodations, high-level culinary experiences, pools, and gardens, for an immersion in various arts, from mechanical to gastronomic.

Stefano Pasini, author of over 30 books on automotive, is the President of the Jury, while the other members include:

  • Stephen Bayley – Architect, Writer, and contributor to Octane magazine;
  • Alessandra Giorgetti – Vice President of the Touring Superleggera International Registry;
  • François Melcion – Director of Retromobile Paris;
  • Gianni Mercatali – Legendary leader in communication and luxury industry;
  • Lorenzo Ramaciotti – Former Chief Group of Design at Fiat Group Automobiles, overseeing design for all Fiat Group brands;
  • Peter Read – Chairman of the Royal Automobile Club’s Motoring Committee.
