Small Italian manufacturer Angelelli Automobili has unveiled the Tipo 829, a new coupé powered by a V6 of around 500 hp. The reveal was timed to coincide with the birthday of company founder Claudio Angelelli, and the car completes a trilogy born from a seven-year collaboration with engineer Nicola Materazzi.

The Tipo 829 is still in development, but it can already be ordered. Production will be strictly limited, and customers can expect an extreme level of personalisation.

Less weight, more involvement

Rather than chasing ever higher power figures, Angelelli is building the car around a clear philosophy: low weight, instant response, mechanical simplicity and maximum driver involvement.

Power comes from a 3.2-litre V6 producing around 500 hp, combined with all-wheel drive. The architecture is designed to stay compact while delivering high performance and direct, communicative handling, giving the driver a clear sense of what is happening at the wheels.

Terra, Strada and Pista

Instead of a single configuration, the Tipo 829 comes in three versions, each built for a different kind of driving. It is an approach inspired by the great rally cars of the past, which could be adapted to whatever surface they faced.

The Tipo 829 Terra is the most rally-inspired of the three. Designed for mixed roads, mountain passes, gravel and hill climbs, it has increased ground clearance and longer-travel suspension tuned for traction and control on slippery surfaces.

The Tipo 829 Strada focuses on tarmac. A lower set-up and greater agility make it suited to everyday sporty driving and fast long-distance journeys.

The Tipo 829 Pista is the most extreme version and is built for the track only. It adds more aerodynamic downforce, further weight savings, and uprated brakes and cooling to cope with intensive, sustained circuit use.

Tipo 829 Built for Key features
Terra Mixed roads, mountain passes, gravel and hill climbs Higher ride height, longer-travel suspension tuned for grip on loose surfaces
Strada Fast road driving and long-distance touring Lower set-up, sharper agility, tuned for everyday sporty driving
Pista Track only More downforce, further weight savings, uprated brakes and cooling

Digital design for a lighter car

All three versions share a structure developed with advanced digital design, structural optimisation and 3D printing. These tools have allowed Angelelli to remove unnecessary weight and components while improving stiffness, build precision and design freedom.

The final chapter of a trilogy

The Tipo 829 follows two earlier projects developed with Materazzi: the Hintegrale, inspired by the Lancia Delta Integrale, and the Effequaranta, which takes its cue from the Ferrari F40. Angelelli presents the Tipo 829 as the third and final chapter of that collaboration.

Orders are now open, mainly for the Terra version. Angelelli has not yet announced prices, production numbers or a delivery date, but the project fits a long tradition of small Italian makers building hand-crafted, driver-focused sports cars for a few lucky enthusiasts.
