Subaru has unveiled the 2026 model of its electric SUV, the Subaru Solterra, featuring significant technical and visual enhancements. The updated version was presented at the New York Auto Show, showcasing increased range, faster charging capabilities, and a redesigned front end.

Up to 338 hp and Extended Range

The 2026 Solterra retains its distinctive angular design but introduces a refreshed front with narrower headlights, a modified bumper, and a more streamlined grille, enhancing both aerodynamics and aesthetics.

The most notable upgrade lies beneath the surface: a new 74.7 kWh battery offers up to 459 kilometers of range (WLTP), marking a 25% improvement over its predecessor. Fast charging has also been enhanced, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in under 35 minutes using a 150 kW DC charger.

For colder climates, battery preheating is now available, and the inclusion of a built-in NACS port grants access to Tesla’s Supercharger network, a significant advantage across Europe.

The powertrain has seen a substantial boost, with the rear electric motor’s output increased, bringing the total system power from 215 hp to 338 hp. This enhancement enables the Solterra to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds. Subaru has also refined the electric steering and suspension systems.

The vehicle continues to feature X-Mode, offering settings for snow, mud, and gravel, and maintains a ground clearance of 211 mm with all-wheel drive.

New interior and larger infotainment screen

Inside, the Solterra boasts a new 14-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The previously criticized black plastic panels are now painted in the vehicle’s body color, providing a more premium appearance.
