With the smart Concept #2, the brand previews the styling and technical direction of the upcoming smart #2, a new two seater electric car designed for European urban mobility. The new interpretation of the smart two seater centers on three key elements: a dedicated new electric platform called ECA, a cabin that feels larger than its external dimensions suggest, and a contemporary take on the premium city car concept.

The interior introduces a continuous seating arrangement, an S-shaped cockpit, and a thoughtful cabin layout that creates a sense of space that exceeds what the ultra compact proportions would indicate.
The interior design prioritizes space and premium perception
The new smart #2 interior reimagines onboard space through several distinctive features. A continuous seating bench stands out as one of the concept’s defining characteristics, moving past the traditional separation between driver and passenger to create a more shared and welcoming environment. This genuine bench seat, complete with clear inserts and satin metal accents, gives the compact cabin an almost lounge-like character.
Complementing the continuous bench, smart developed a cockpit based on an S-shaped principle that promotes intuitive interaction, clearer command organization, and maximum spatial efficiency.
The cabin features light color tones, soft textile surfaces, and small details in satin metal with a clear gold finish. Circular elements evoking speakers and vents with an almost turbine-like shape contribute to giving the upcoming smart #2 a perceived quality above average for the segment.
The ECA platform forms the technical foundation
Smart has revealed the first technical details of the new ECA platform, standing for Electric Compact Architecture. This platform was developed specifically for an ultra compact electric vehicle and will form the foundation of the upcoming smart #2.
One of the most significant figures concerns the turning radius of 6.95 meters curb to curb. The ECA was engineered to maximize onboard space through reduced overhangs, compact technical packaging, and an architecture designed from the outset for fully electric propulsion.
For the upcoming smart #2, smart targets a 35.7 kWh battery, an estimated range of approximately 300 kilometers under WLTP testing, and rapid DC charging from 10 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes. These figures remain preliminary and are not yet homologated.
