Sunweb Group has entered a new partnership with Ryanair, integrating Europe’s largest low cost airline directly into its booking platform. The move gives customers access to an even wider range of flights and allows the travel company to build more flexible and affordable package holidays.
Sunweb operates across Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom and Germany. With the new integration, travelers can easily combine Ryanair flights with Sunweb’s accommodation offering throughout Europe.
A flexible model opens up more options
Unlike many traditional tour operators, Sunweb Group does not own its own fleet of aircraft. Instead, the company works under an asset light model, partnering with a range of airlines rather than investing in planes itself.
This approach gives Sunweb significant flexibility. Capacity can be adjusted quickly to match demand, while the company avoids the heavy fixed costs that come with owning and operating an airline fleet. That is a clear advantage in a period marked by economic uncertainty and fluctuating fuel prices.
The partnership with Ryanair is a strong example of this strategy in action. It allows Sunweb to purchase flight capacity at competitive prices, keeping package holidays, where flights and hotels are bundled together, attractive for customers. It also makes it easier to offer departures from multiple airports and to quickly find alternative solutions when unforeseen events or extreme weather disrupt air traffic.
Strong demand from the start
Over the past few weeks, the partnership has been rolled out across Sunweb Group’s markets in the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, France and the United Kingdom, covering both sun and ski holidays. Early results show demand well above expectations.
“Even though it has only been three weeks since we opened sales for trips with Ryanair, we are already seeing enormous interest. At this point, we have sold thousands of trips from Denmark and Sweden. Spanish destinations are especially popular, but we are also seeing a lot of bookings for Greece, not least Halkidiki,” says Jan Lockhart, Nordic director at Sunweb.
Most popular destinations for Danish customers flying with Ryanair
Mallorca, Costa del Sol, Halkidiki, Corfu and Costa Brava top the list for Danish travelers booking with Ryanair.
Danish travelers can depart from Copenhagen and Aarhus, and also have the option of flying from Hamburg and Lübeck.
