LG has announced two new additions to its UltraGear Evo range: the 52G930B and the 39GX950B. The two monitors take different approaches to the gaming experience, but share a common ambition: to deliver immersive, fluid and technologically advanced visuals for modern players.
LG UltraGear Evo 52G930B: cinematic scale for total immersion
The 52G930B is built around a 52-inch UltraWide panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 5K2K resolution, designed to maximise the sense of presence in games. The 1000R curvature wraps the display around the player’s field of view, offering a noticeably wider image compared to conventional 16:9 screens. Open world titles, simulators and first-person action games are where this format makes its case most clearly.
Performance credentials include a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time (GtG), keeping motion smooth and latency low even in fast-paced sequences. Visual quality is supported by VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification and 95% DCI-P3 colour coverage, ensuring bright highlights, detailed shadows and accurate colour reproduction throughout. AMD FreeSync Premium compatibility eliminates tearing and stuttering for a consistently clean image.
LG UltraGear Evo AI 39GX950B: OLED meets artificial intelligence
The 39GX950B takes a different route, combining a fourth-generation Tandem OLED panel with a suite of AI-driven features. The 39-inch display shares the 5K2K UltraWide resolution of its sibling but introduces a Dual Mode system certified by VESA, allowing users to switch between two operating configurations depending on their priorities.
At full 5K2K resolution, the panel runs at up to 165Hz. Switching to WFHD mode unlocks up to 330Hz, making the monitor equally capable in visually demanding narrative games and in fast competitive titles where frame rate is everything.
The Tandem OLED technology reaches a peak brightness of 1,500 nits, backed by VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification for deep blacks and precise contrast handling. Colour coverage reaches 99.55% of the DCI-P3 space, while a 0.03ms response time and support for both NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro keep the image free of ghosting, tearing and stuttering. The 1500R curvature adds a further layer of immersion to the experience.
AI features that work on image and sound
The most distinctive aspect of the 39GX950B is its artificial intelligence integration. AI Upscaling 5K2K analyses on-screen content in real time and enhances sharpness and detail to match the monitor’s native resolution, without requiring additional hardware.
AI Scene Optimization goes further, automatically recognising the type of content being displayed and adjusting colour, contrast and colour temperature accordingly. Whether the user is playing a game, watching a film or working on creative projects, the monitor adapts its output to suit the material.
The audio system benefits from the same approach through AI Sound, which separates and optimises voices, sound effects and ambient noise in real time for a more immersive listening experience during gaming and media playback.
Connectivity, ergonomics and shared features
Both monitors are built for premium setups. The UltraWide 21:9 format serves not only gaming but also video editing, multi-window productivity and creative workflows. Ergonomic adjustments allow users to customise screen positioning for extended sessions.
Connectivity covers HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1 and USB-C with Power Delivery, ensuring compatibility with desktop PCs, modern laptops and gaming consoles.
LG’s Switch app provides software control over monitor settings, custom presets and screen layout options across up to 11 different configurations. Both models also include a 10W per channel stereo speaker system, reducing the need for external audio in many setups, alongside a four-pole headset output for gaming headsets with integrated microphones.
