Kia has announced new six- and seven-seat variants of the all-electric Kia PV5 Passenger, broadening a model line already recognised as one of the most versatile electric people carriers on the market. Production of the expanded range begins on 15 July 2026, with availability through Danish dealers to follow once pricing is confirmed.
Built on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP.S platform, the PV5 Passenger was designed from the outset to cover a wide spectrum of use cases, from private family transport to commercial shuttle and airport transfer operations. The addition of three-row seating configurations makes that commercial argument considerably stronger.
Two new configurations, one flat floor
The six-seat variant uses a 1-2-3 layout and offers 315 litres of side storage alongside the front passenger seat, plus 318 litres in the boot behind the third row. The seven-seat version adopts a 2-2-3 arrangement with 318 litres of boot space, expandable to 785 litres with the third row folded.
Both variants benefit from the flat floor architecture that distinguishes the PV5 family, with up to 1,041 mm of legroom, 1,076 mm of headroom, and 1,732 mm of shoulder width. Entry to all rows is aided by a low 399 mm step-in height and electric sliding doors — details that matter in high-frequency transport environments.
Range and charging
The six- and seven-seat variants of the Kia PV5 Passenger are expected to deliver over 390 km of range on the WLTP cycle, pending final homologation. DC fast charging at up to 150 kW brings the battery from 10 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes, while the front-mounted charge port keeps the boot area unobstructed during charging stops.
Via Kia Charge, drivers can access more than one million charge points across 27 European countries. The Kia PV5 Passenger also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing external equipment to draw power directly from the battery.
Cabin and connectivity on the new Kia PV5 Passenger
The interior centres on a 12.9-inch infotainment display and a 7.5-inch digital instrument cluster. Over-the-air software updates and access to third-party applications through Kia’s Pleos App Market keep the system current over the vehicle’s service life. Kia has also worked on noise insulation, vibration reduction, and suspension tuning — refinements that distinguish a vehicle targeting both private buyers and commercial fleet managers.
A turning circle of just 5.5 metres makes the PV5 Passenger practical in dense urban traffic, and the full suite of advanced driver assistance systems is included across the range.
Part of a broader platform strategy
The PV5 is the opening model in Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) programme, which aims to deliver fully electric, purpose-configured mobility solutions across both private and commercial segments. The family currently includes Passenger, Cargo, Chassis Cab, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, and Crew Van variants — and the programme is set to grow, with the larger PV7 planned for 2027 and the PV9 for 2029, eventually spanning more than 40 body variants.
Recognition for the platform has come quickly. The PV5 Passenger was named Family Car of the Year at the TopGear.com Awards 2026, while the PV5 Cargo took the International Van of the Year 2026 title and set a Guinness World Record for the longest distance driven by an electric van on a single charge with maximum payload — 693.38 kilometres.
All PV5 models are covered by Kia’s seven-year or 150,000 km factory warranty, with an eight-year warranty on the high-voltage battery. The new variants of the Kia PV5 Passenger will be available in Denmark in summer, together with Swedish and Norwegian market. Prices are supposed to be announced in the following months in all the three mentioned Scandinavian countries.
