The Chinese car manufacturer Hongqi is ready to enter the Danish market with two brand-new electric vehicles. At the Shanghai Auto Show, the Hongqi EH5 sedan and Hongqi EHS5 SUV were unveiled for the first time – and both models have the potential to shake up the market with advanced technology, long range, and pricing that could seriously challenge the competition. We’re looking at you, Tesla Model 3!

Hongqi EH5 and EHS5: aerodynamic sedan or spacious SUV with up to 700 km of range

The Hongqi EH5 is a sleek and spacious sedan, measuring 4.75 meters in length with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. It is available with either a 62 kWh or 85 kWh LFP battery, and the official WLTP range is expected to reach up to 615 km. Power output is 286 hp, and it supports ultra-fast charging of up to 265 kW, allowing a 10–80% charge in just 20 minutes. An even faster 900V version is under development, expected to deliver the same charge in only 12 minutes while offering a range of up to 700 km.

The SUV model, EHS5, shares both the platform and dimensions with the EH5 but offers even more power. The top model boasts a massive 560 horsepower, and it also includes fast charging and a long driving range. This makes the EHS5 a serious contender in Denmark’s rapidly growing electric SUV segment.

Premium Features – without the premium price tag

Both the Hongqi EH5 and EHS5 will arrive in Denmark with a level of equipment typically found in premium-class vehicles. The cabin is centered around a large 15.6″ infotainment screen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it easy to access your phone’s features without cables.

There’s also an advanced AR head-up display that projects essential driving information directly onto the windshield. Comfort is top-notch with features like a heat pump, keyless entry, and a 40W wireless phone charger. This is complemented by a panoramic glass roof that floods the cabin with natural light, as well as navigation with pre-conditioning to ensure optimal temperature control during your journey.

Sharp prices and Danish launch in 2025

While official Danish pricing has not yet been confirmed, importer Wismo has announced that the EH5 and EHS5 will arrive in Denmark in the fourth quarter of 2025. Estimated prices start at DKK 299,999 for the sedan, with the SUV likely costing DKK 50,000 more – a total of DKK 349,999.

If you ask us, that could be checkmate for many other electric vehicles on the Danish market. We’re definitely hoping both cars will come in at highly competitive prices.
