Kia has introduced its first fully electric chassis cab to the Danish market, positioning the PV5 Chassis Cab as a modular solution for professional users who need tailored commercial vehicle configurations. The company has set an entry price of 230,000 DKK (approximately €30,900) excluding VAT, signaling a significant expansion of its electrified commercial offerings.

The PV5 Chassis Cab represents Kia’s commitment to rethinking light commercial vehicles through its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy. Built on the dedicated E-GMP.S platform and developed in collaboration with European bodybuilders, the model targets professionals across diverse applications—from dropside trucks and tippers to box vans and refrigerated units.

Compact Design Meets Urban Practicality

Despite measuring under five meters in length, the PV5 delivers payload capacity up to 1,005 kg depending on configuration, along with a tight turning radius of 5.5 meters that enhances maneuverability in congested urban environments.

This combination of compact dimensions and functional capability addresses a growing demand for efficient delivery and service vehicles in European cities.ù

Local partnership

Kia has already secured partnerships with Danish bodybuilders to support market entry. Kolding Karosserifabrik ApS is among the first partners, offering a specialized flatbed configuration engineered for the PV5. The Danish-built bed measures 2,500 mm by 1,950 mm and incorporates lightweight aluminum subframe construction and durable composite flooring, with features including tie-down loops, load rails, and removable corner posts.

The flatbed solution carries a premium of 29,500 DKK (approximately €3,950) excluding VAT and installation. Brdr. Plagborg has also signed on to provide lightweight, high-quality body configurations, with additional partners expected as the market develops.

Electric Performance and Charging Infrastructure

The initial Danish launch offers the PV5 with a 51.5 kWh battery delivering up to 297 km range (WLTP, dependent on body configuration). The electric drivetrain produces 121 horsepower and is engineered for stable, consistent performance in daily commercial use.

Charging capability emphasizes practicality for commercial operators. The vehicle supports DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, enabling a 10–80 percent charge in under 30 minutes. AC charging at 11 kW requires approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes for a full charge. A larger battery variant is planned for later introduction.

Technology and Comfort as Standard

The PV5 launches in a Work specification that prioritizes both driver comfort and operational capability. Standard equipment includes a 12.9-inch touchscreen with navigation and Kia Connect (seven-year subscription), adaptive cruise control with emergency stop, automatic climate control with heat pump, LED lighting, a 230V cabin outlet, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, wireless smartphone integration, and advanced driver assistance systems including highway drive assist.

Additional features reflect commercial priorities: parking sensors, pre-conditioning for optimized fast charging, and over-the-air software updates ensure the vehicle remains current throughout its service life. The PV5 carries Kia’s standard seven-year / 150,000 km factory warranty.
