Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division has never been content with standing still, and the new GRMN Corolla is proof that the Japanese manufacturer’s obsession with driving purity continues to intensify. Built as a step beyond the already impressive GR Corolla, the GRMN variant is a limited-edition machine developed with one uncompromising goal: to create a Corolla that genuinely captivates its driver.

The result is, in a word, spectacular. Every angle of the GRMN Corolla communicates a sense of purposeful aggression — the classic compact silhouette is still there, but it has been sharpened and stretched with genuine racing intent. This is unmistakably a GR car, and then some.

Development Forged on the Green Hell

The mandate for the GRMN Corolla came directly from the top. Akio Toyoda — known in motorsport circles as Morizo — set the bar plainly: “If it is to carry the GRMN name, it must be a car capable of conquering the Nürburgring.” The development team took those words literally.

The GRMN Corolla’s chassis and aerodynamic setup were honed on the legendary German circuit, combining real-world laps over the Nordschleife’s notoriously uneven surface with intensive simulator work. Toyota also drew on its experience in the Super Taikyu Series endurance races to refine the car’s all-wheel-drive system and suspension geometry under competition conditions.

Aerodynamics with a Purpose

The bodywork isn’t just for show. A hood intake, fender vents, front side spoilers and a prominent rear wing work together as a coherent aerodynamic package — and the rear wing goes further still. It features a five-position adjustment mechanism with one-degree increments, a setup developed in close collaboration with professional test drivers to fine-tune actual on-track behaviour rather than simply optimise numbers in a wind tunnel.

The objective was to push GR technology to its limits and deliver an extreme level of driving pleasure.

Engine, Drivetrain and Tyres

Power comes from Toyota’s acclaimed 1.6-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine, here producing 305 hp and 415 Nm of torque — a meaningful increase over the standard GR Corolla that translates into relentless in-gear punch. Drive is sent to all four wheels via a highly developed all-wheel-drive system optimised specifically for rear axle torque distribution, while the only available gearbox is a six-speed manual. If you want to row your own gears, Toyota has made the choice for you.

Grip comes courtesy of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres in 245/40ZR18 — 10 mm wider than the standard car’s rubber — mounted on 18-inch wheels. The electric power steering (EPS) has been recalibrated relative to the base model to deliver the right level of assistance on mixed-surface roads and circuit sections alike.

Inside, the GRMN Corolla introduces a brushed metal dashboard designed to keep the driver oriented during spirited driving. New deeply bolstered seats, carbon fibre inserts and an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel with a red marker at the twelve o’clock position complete a cockpit that communicates its intentions clearly from the moment you sit down.

Availability: Limited and Japan-First

The GRMN Corolla will not be a volume seller — nor was it intended to be. Toyota has designated it as a limited edition for Japan, North America and Australia only. In Japan, orders will be placed exclusively through the brand’s smartphone GR app, with sales opening in autumn 2026 and deliveries expected to begin in 2027.

A related model, the Corolla Morizo RR, is also on the horizon — this variant will use an eight-speed automatic transmission rather than the manual gearbox that defines the GRMN.
