The “end” of OnePlus has been a hot topic in recent days, as the brand continues retreating from several markets worldwide. In practice, parent company OPPO appears to be absorbing it, at least in Western markets, as part of a broader strategy focused on growing the main OPPO brand internationally.

But this shift might not stop with OnePlus. According to industry insiders, at least one more brand, and its respective parent company, could be heading down the same path. For now, well placed sources are staying tight lipped about names, but they’re hinting at a major announcement on the horizon, one that could disappoint more than a few fans.

A new brand could vanish from global markets

On X, well known tipster Yogesh Brar claims that another minor brand could soon disappear from markets worldwide, following the same trail blazed by Oppo.

Just like OPPO’s recent internal mergers, another brand may soon be absorbed by its parent company.

Yogesh doesn’t reveal which brand exactly, but the source is considered reliable. He points to “discouraging” numbers, hinting at weak recent sales, and invites followers to guess which company he means.

POCO or iQOO: the leading theories

Among the most popular guesses is Poco, rumoured to be absorbed by Xiaomi. Another possibility floated is a merger between vivo and iQOO. Both scenarios are plausible: neither Poco nor iQOO has posted particularly strong results over the past year.

Whether it’s one of these two, or another sub brand entirely, the pattern seems clear: smartphone makers are increasingly consolidating their portfolios, streamlining lineups that have grown crowded with overlapping models competing against each other for the same customers.
