The Peugeot 308, though not a common sight in Scandinavia, has received a so-called facelift, bringing a refreshed design to its compact hatchback and estate models.

In general, sales of this car type have significantly declined, yet Peugeot persists, offering the 308 alongside its Stellantis sibling, the Opel Astra, with petrol, diesel, or electric powertrains.

Peugeot 308: new design language

The current Peugeot 308 was introduced in 2021, showcasing an evolution of the French brand’s design language. Four years later, the update removes the iconic “fangs” and introduces a new face with split headlights. Instead of a full LED strip, the design features luminous strands above the body-colored grille.

The base Allure model comes with full LED lighting, while GT and GT Premium add Matrix LED technology and sequential indicators. Another novelty is the illuminated Peugeot emblem, a first for the brand and expected to become standard on future models.

According to Peugeot, the new bumper intakes improve aerodynamics by directing airflow to the wheel arches.

Externally, the profile remains largely unchanged, but the car gains new 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels and two new colors: Lagoa Blue for the hatchback and Ingaro Blue for the estate (SW). The rear is almost unchanged, but the bumper drops chrome inserts, and the taillights now feature 3D LED designs across all trims, previously limited to the GT model.

Expected in Denmark and Norway as an EV

The Peugeot 308 rides on Stellantis EMP2 platform, shared with the Opel Astra and the upcoming DS N°4. Future generations are expected to transition to the STLA Medium architecture.

Despite the industry’s shift away from diesel, Peugeot continues to offer a 1.5-liter BlueHDi turbodiesel with 130 hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, a mild-hybrid with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine delivers 145 hp, capable of operating in electric mode up to 50% of the time in urban environments.

The plug-in hybrid combines a 1.6-liter turbo engine with an electric motor for a total of 195 hp and an electric range of 85 km, thanks to a 17.2 kWh battery pack. The fully electric E-308 features a front-mounted electric motor with 154 hp and a 58.4 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP range of 452 km—an improvement of 37 km over the previous model. With a 100 kW DC charger, it takes 32 minutes to charge from 20–80%, and the car supports V2L functionality with an optional adapter. Notably, the 308 is one of the few electric estates available in Europe.

More luggage space than before

Internally, the 308 retains its version of Peugeot’s i-Cockpit with a 10-inch display, which still feels modern despite not adopting the newer digital cockpit from the larger 3008 and 5008 SUVs. Updates include new 3D graphics for the digital instrument cluster and Alcantara upholstery on GT and GT Premium trims.

Equipment options include a 10-speaker Focal Premium Hi-fi system, eight-color ambient lighting, and massage seats. The infotainment system supports over-the-air updates. Peugeot highlights that 31% of the materials in the facelifted 308 are recycled or renewable, equivalent to 405 kg per vehicle.

For estate enthusiasts, the Peugeot 308 SW survives the update, offering a longer body and a luggage capacity of 598 to 1,487 liters depending on seat configuration, making it highly practical.

Sales Start in Autumn 2025

The Peugeot 308 will be available in Europe from autumn 2025, produced at the Mulhouse plant in France. In Denmark, we expect to see the electric version, likely bidding farewell to petrol and diesel variants. Prices will be announced later. The 308 competes with models like the VW Golf, Opel Astra, SEAT Leon, and the aging Toyota Corolla.
