MG Expands the Cyber Range, Launched with the Cyberster, at the Shanghai Auto Show. With a presentation set directly on the moon, SAIC unveils the MG Cyber X, a boxy and futuristic SUV with off-road capabilities designed to appeal both to off-road driving enthusiasts and to younger audiences, thanks to its strong tech focus born from a collaboration with Oppo.

Like the Cyberster and all other models from the British brand now owned by SAIC Motor, the Cyber X will debut first in China and then, later on, likely in Europe as well. MG is experiencing notable success in China: in March 2025 alone, the brand sold 10,000 vehicles, marking an 82.6% increase compared to the previous year.

But the most eye-catching feature is the retractable headlights: a nostalgic nod to the sports cars of the ’80s and ’90s, reimagined with a modern twist. The lights only pop up when turned on, blending seamlessly into the bodywork when off.

The cabin and connectivity system of the Cyber X were developed in collaboration with Oppo, the well-known smartphone maker that is also growing in both China and Europe. This synergy promises advanced integration between the vehicle and mobile devices, aiming for a smart, connected user experience.
