Following the Mazda 6e (read our preview here) the Japanese automaker unveils its second model developed in collaboration with Changhan at the Shanghai Auto Show: the Mazda EZ-60, equally stunning thanks to the evolution of the Kodo Design.

The model intended for Western markets will instead be called the Mazda CX-6e, continuing the brand’s new electric naming convention while also echoing the familiar SUV naming structure. At the Chinese motor show, we already get a glimpse of the powertrain and battery specifications.

Mazda EZ-60: even more elegant design

The Mazda EZ-60 is based on the Arata concept, preserving its stylistic essence while enhancing it with cutting-edge technologies and a dual powertrain offering.

With substantial dimensions—4.8 meters long, 1.9 meters wide, and 1.6 meters high, with a 2.9-meter wheelbase—the EZ-60 presents a sleek, sporty silhouette. The design is highlighted by a black “floating” roof and a two-tone paint scheme, giving the vehicle a modern and elegant look in line with Mazda’s evolving design language.

The EZ-60’s cabin embraces a fully digital, minimalist philosophy, first seen on the 6e. Taking center stage is an ultra-wide 26.45-inch 5K display, integrating all main functions: infotainment, climate control, and driving information. Physical buttons are almost entirely eliminated, replaced by touch and voice controls. Rear passengers also get dedicated displays for controlling comfort and entertainment.

For audiophiles, Mazda offers an optional 23-speaker audio system with Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 technology, designed to deliver an immersive, cinema-quality sound experience.

Despite its coupé-like profile, the EZ-60 offers practical cargo space: 350 liters in standard configuration, expanding to 2,036 liters with the rear seats folded. The fully electric version also features a 126-liter front trunk (frunk), while the cabin is dotted with thoughtfully designed storage compartments for everyday convenience.

Performance

Built on Changan’s EPA platform (the same used for the Deepal S07), the EZ-60 will be available in two electrified versions. The first is a range-extended model, featuring a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 72 kW, which functions solely as a generator. This setup is paired with a 190 kW electric motor and a 31.73 kWh LFP battery, offering up to 160 km of pure electric range.

As for the fully electric version, Mazda has not yet released the full specifications, but early previews hint at competitive range, positioning it to challenge the main rivals in the segment.

The EZ-60 comes equipped with nine airbags as standard and a Level 2 driver assistance system, supported by five HD cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and twelve ultrasonic sensors for full 360-degree coverage. The safety package also includes an advanced battery protection system, developed with CATL and CALB, consisting of eight safety layers designed to exceed 2026 regulatory standards.
