The european version of the Jeep Wagoneer EV has been spotted undergoing road tests in Turin, Italy — a clear sign that its long-awaited European debut is drawing closer. While the model has already launched in the United States, these latest sightings confirm that Jeep is preparing to bring its full-size electric SUV to European customers by the end of 2025.

Captured without any camouflage by spy photographer Walter Vayr (Gabetz Spy Unit), the vehicle appears visually identical to the U.S. version, suggesting minimal design changes for Europe. However, one detail in particular has sparked curiosity: the words “STLA AutoDrive L3” replacing the license plate on both the front and rear of the prototype.

Level 3 Autonomous Driving on the Horizon?

This mysterious tag points to the presence of Stellantis’ “STLA AutoDrive” system, which is designed to support advanced driver-assistance features, including potential Level 3 autonomous driving. While such systems are not yet legal for customer use in Italy, the inclusion of this label hints that Jeep is actively testing these technologies for future rollout.

Level 3 autonomy would allow the vehicle to handle most driving tasks under specific conditions, with the driver ready to take over if needed — a major step forward from today’s more common Level 2 systems.

The vehicle was also wearing a “4xe” badge, a familiar sight from Jeep’s electrified lineup, indicating it features all-wheel drive with dual electric motors. In the U.S., the Jeep Wagoneer S (its official name) offers a combined output of around 600 horsepower and draws energy from a 100 kWh battery pack, delivering an estimated 300 miles (482 km) of range under American testing standards.

Whether the European version will match these specs remains to be seen, though it’s possible Jeep could adjust powertrain or battery options to better suit local regulations and driving habits. Rumors have also circulated about a potential plug-in hybrid variant — a move that could help broaden the SUV’s appeal across a wider audience.

With a length nearing 4.9 meters, the Wagoneer will enter the European market as one of the largest all-electric SUVs available — a bold move for Jeep as it expands its zero-emissions presence outside of North America.
