The Chery Q is the first fully electric car that Chery will sell under its own name in Europe, and we have already seen it in preview in Wuhu, ahead of its arrival on European roads. The compact electric crossover was shown at the Paris Motor Show in October and aims at a price of around 25,000 euro in Italy, where sales are expected to start in spring 2027.

First look in Wuhu

The Q is 4.19 metres long, 1.81 metres wide and about 1.57 metres high, but the 2.70 metre wheelbase gives it a cabin that feels larger than the exterior suggests. Visibility is helped by slim pillars, which is useful in city traffic and when parking.

The boot holds 375 litres, with another 70 litres in the front trunk under the bonnet, a practical place for charging cables. Inside there are 38 storage compartments, wireless phone charging and a USB socket behind the rear view mirror, handy for a dashcam. The dashboard combines an 8.8 inch digital instrument display with a 15.6 inch central screen, while the gear selector sits on the steering column to free up the centre console.

The squared crossover body with rounded corners has already won a Red Dot Design Award 2026. The name comes from the QQ launched in 2003, with one Q dropped to make it easier to pronounce in European markets.

Motor, battery and charging

The Q uses a rear wheel drive electric layout. The version announced for Italy has a motor of about 90 kW (122 hp) and a 52 kWh battery, with a claimed range of up to 380 km on the WLTP cycle. In our first contact, the consumption shown on the dashboard was in line with that figure.

DC fast charging takes about 16.5 minutes from 30 to 80 per cent, according to Chery. Specifications can differ by market: other sources list a smaller battery of around 41 kWh and a range of up to 400 km on the older NEDC cycle, so the final European specification should be checked at launch.

Europe: from debut to showrooms

Chery presented the Q in Paris as the first electric model for its core brand in Europe, after launching hybrids first. Chery is building its German headquarters in Frankfurt and plans to start with around 30 dealers in 2027. In Poland the Q is expected around the turn of the first and second quarter of 2027. Outside Europe it is already on sale or about to launch in markets such as South Africa, where prices start at 350,000 rand.

Chery has not yet published an official European price. German media place it in the 20,000 euro class, while the Italian target is around 25,000 euro.

What we know about Denmark, Sweden and Norway

No launch date or local price has been confirmed for the Nordic countries as of 29 October 2026. In Denmark, trade press reports that a Danish launch of the Chery Q is not yet confirmed. Chery’s Omoda and Jaecoo brands are already imported by Nic. Christiansen Group, but we have found no announcement of an importer for the Chery brand itself.

In Sweden, Chery has announced that its Lepas brand will arrive in the first half of 2027, starting with the L6 electric car, but the Q is not part of that plan. For Norway we found no information on the Q at this stage.

Local prices will depend on import costs and national taxes, so the Italian figure is only a reference point. We will update this article when Chery confirms plans for Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
