The 2027 Porsche Taycan arrives with significant updates designed to make electric driving more engaging, efficient, and personalizable. Key additions include E-Shift, which simulates eight virtual gears with tactile feedback, new Range Plus summer tires that extend range to 700 km WLTP, a Manthey kit for the Taycan Turbo GT, and an overhauled Porsche Digital Interaction infotainment system.
The updates span driving dynamics, efficiency, track performance, and digital experience. Together they represent Porsche’s effort to inject more emotion and intuition into the electric Taycan while pushing practical range and power for long distance travel.
E-Shift brings simulated gears to electric driving
The optional E-Shift feature stands out as the most distinctive innovation. Rather than a traditional automatic, E-Shift introduces eight virtual gear ratios with realistic, perceptible shifts, a revised Porsche Electric Sport Sound, a virtual tachometer, and an illuminated gear indicator on the dashboard.
The goal was to layer tactile, acoustic, and visual emotion onto electric driving that echoes Porsche’s sports car heritage. Drivers can use paddle shifters on the GT sport steering wheel to move between gears, with each ratio producing specific drag torque and a virtual rev limiter for dynamic shift response closer to traditional sports cars.
The Electric Sport Sound adapts based on driving situation, power load, and virtual engine revs, with the acoustic profile varying by Taycan variant. On the Taycan Turbo GT, E-Shift comes standard. For other variants, it requires the Sport Chrono package, the Electric Sport Sound system, and either a Bose or Burmester surround sound system.
New tires unlock 700 km WLTP range
The rear-wheel-drive Taycan sedan and Sport Turismo now offer optional Range Plus summer tires with exceptionally low rolling resistance. These tires add up to 20 km of range, and when paired with the Performance Plus battery, the sedan achieves its first ever 700 km WLTP rating.

The Sport Turismo variant reaches 671 km WLTP with the same tire and battery combination. The 20-inch Range Plus tires were optimized for long-distance highways and urban driving, addressing one of the Taycan’s traditional weak points against competitors in the luxury electric segment.
Taycan Turbo GT gets first-ever Manthey package
For the first time, Porsche applies a Manthey tuning kit to an electric sports car. The package is exclusive to the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package and introduces broad aerodynamic, chassis, and powertrain optimizations aimed at track-ready performance.
Digital Interaction system undergoes major revision
The new infotainment framework emphasizes minimalist design, clearer graphics, simplified icons, and dynamic animations. At the center sits a 3D model of the car that mirrors the customer’s actual body color, allowing faster, more intuitive access to major vehicle functions.
The Porsche Communication Management system delivers computing power up to five times greater than the previous generation, translating to faster response times and smoother menu navigation.
New widgets appear across the system, providing quick access to navigation, media, phone functions, and other features in either split or full screen view. A redesigned Themes app expands personalization, letting drivers choose color schemes that affect both interior lighting and on-screen content, all coordinated with body color.
Voice control grows smarter and more conversational
The Voice Pilot system now runs on artificial intelligence, supporting natural language conversations without repeating “Hey Porsche” before each command. It integrates Google Places for point-of-interest searches and handles navigation, vehicle functions, media, and select apps. On the Taycan, the charging port door can now open via voice.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto receive improved integration, while the navigation system adds online route calculation, 3D building visualization, and an optimized charging planner crucial for long-distance electric driving. Over-the-air software updates can now download and install in the background, keeping the system current without driver intervention.
A new smartphone tray features a magnetic ring mount and up to 25 watts of wireless charging power, delivering roughly 1.5 times faster charging than the previous generation.
