A mid-size premium SUV aiming for record range
The EX60 promises to bring together the best of Volvo’s electric technology, positioning itself as a mid-size premium SUV that aims to deliver the longest range ever offered by a Volvo EV. The project aspires to replicate the impact the XC60 had in the brand’s recent history.

In today’s crowded EV market, range remains the decisive factor. With the EX60, Volvo promises significantly higher mileage compared to its current standards, easing range anxiety and making both daily use and long-distance travel more convenient without the need to plan every single charging stop.
The platform will be natively electric, likely derived from Zeekr’s SEA architecture—or possibly the same variant used on the Zeekr 7X, itself a compact premium SUV in the same segment as the EX60 (we recently tested it in Portugal).
Debut and production timeline
The official debut is set for January 21, 2026. Production will begin in the first half of 2026 at Volvo’s Torslanda plant in Gothenburg, underscoring Sweden’s central role in the industrialization of the project.
Volvo is keeping the official figures under wraps but hints at a significant step forward compared to its current EV lineup. If these promises are fulfilled, the EX60 is set to become a new benchmark among premium electric SUVs, competing directly with models such as the Audi Q6 e-tron, Porsche Macan EV, Zeekr 7X, Jeep Wagoneer S and, potentially, a future Alfa Romeo Stelvio EV.
