Samsung has officially confirmed its next Galaxy Unpacked event, set to take place on 22 July in London. The show will also be streamed live, giving audiences around the world a first look at the company’s next generation of foldable devices.
The announcement follows a series of teasers that had already pointed toward a new form factor for the Fold line, including one developed together with Qualcomm to preview the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip. With the event now officially dated, Samsung has effectively completed its lead up campaign: first the shape, then the processor, and now the invitation itself.
A new shape unfolds
The tagline chosen for the event is “A New Shape Unfolds”, and the invitation leans heavily into that idea. The teaser video shows a ticket being progressively printed, featuring the stylised Unpacked cube at its centre and the event tagline running along the side. Near the top, a barcode sits next to the words “Admit One.” Once the perforated section is torn away, revealing the location and date, the remaining shape of the ticket mirrors what the closed form of the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to look like.
Samsung has not yet named any specific products in its messaging. Instead, the company refers broadly to new additions to the Galaxy lineup, along with a nod to the foldable category, innovative form factors, and smart features designed for more personal and adaptive experiences. It is intentionally vague, official language, but the overall picture is fairly clear at this point.
What to expect from the lineup
The star of the show is expected to be the new Galaxy Z Fold 8, arriving in a wider format, joined by the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and a new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The Ultra model is tipped to take over as the most direct successor to the current Fold 7.
The reference to a “new shape” reinforces what earlier teasers had already hinted at. Samsung appears to be preparing its audience for a Fold that looks noticeably different from previous generations, wider and less elongated vertically, with proportions closer to a 4:3 ratio when unfolded. The idea behind this shift seems to be making the device feel more natural to use while closed, while also improving the experience for viewing content once opened.
The pieces come together
The earlier Qualcomm teaser had already added another clue, showing the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip placed inside the outline of the new foldable. Today’s invitation ties the final piece of that build up together.
On 22 July, Samsung will reveal how it plans to refresh its foldable lineup, at a moment when the foldable market is becoming noticeably more competitive. Later this year, in September, the segment is also expected to welcome a new entrant, with Apple’s own foldable device rumoured to debut.
