The new Peugeot 408 represents a major step forward for the French brand in the C-segment, combining fastback styling, electrified powertrains and a strong focus on comfort and digital technology. Produced in France at the Mulhouse plant, the 2026 Peugeot 408 is designed for both daily driving and long-distance travel.

Still with its Fastback design

With its fastback body style, the Peugeot 408 clearly differentiates itself from traditional hatchbacks and sedans. It is the first model from the brand to feature an illuminated Peugeot lettering at the rear, while selected trims also offer an illuminated front logo.

At the front, the 408 adopts a redesigned grille and bumper that combine glossy and matte black surfaces. The lower bumper features a trapezoidal shape, and the proximity radar is discreetly positioned behind the Peugeot badge, remaining invisible from the outside.

The lighting signature is a defining element of the design. The front features the iconic three inclined LED “claws”, paired with a full-width LED strip above the central logo on GT and GT Exclusive versions. The main headlights are positioned lower in the bumper and integrate slim, stacked modules for low and high beams.

Allure and Allure Business trims are equipped with Peugeot Full LED headlights, while GT and GT Exclusive versions benefit from advanced Peugeot Matrix LED technology. At the rear, a full-width light bar and illuminated lettering reinforce the car’s modern identity.

An exclusive body colour, Flare Green, is available, offering changing shades depending on lighting conditions, shifting from yellow tones in direct sunlight to deeper green hues in the shade.

Wheels, Trims and Exterior Protection

Depending on powertrain and trim level, the Peugeot 408 offers a wide range of alloy wheel options. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions can be fitted with 19-inch Adakite wheels with diamond-cut surfaces, standard on GT trims. The Plug-in Hybrid GT Exclusive features exclusive 20-inch Monolithe wheels.

Allure and Allure Business versions come standard with 17-inch glossy black alloy wheels, with 19-inch Adakite wheels available as an option. Practical exterior protection is ensured by black cladding on the side fenders and rear bumper, designed to protect the bodywork during everyday use.

Interior: Peugeot i-Cockpit and Comfort

The interior of the Peugeot 408 is centred around the latest evolution of the Peugeot i-Cockpit. The driving interface includes a 10-inch digital instrument cluster positioned in the driver’s line of sight and a 10-inch central touchscreen mounted lower and angled towards the driver.

Improved digital graphics are standard across the range, while GT Exclusive versions—and optionally GT—offer a 3D digital instrument display.

Below the central screen, five configurable i-Toggles provide quick access to frequently used functions such as climate control, navigation, favourite contacts or radio stations.

Ambient lighting is available in eight colours and extends across the dashboard and door panels. Depending on the trim, door panel finishes range from fabric to Alcantara® or embossed aluminium. Higher trims offer materials such as genuine aluminium, Alcantara® upholstery and optional Nappa leather, along with Adamite stitching.

Dimensions and Handling

The Peugeot 408 measures 1.48 metres in height, with a front track of 1.59 metres and a rear track of 1.60 metres. The curb-to-curb turning radius is 11.20 metres, ensuring good manoeuvrability despite the car’s dynamic proportions.
