Midttrafik now offers the Basiskort, a physical travel card designed for customers who do not use the Rejsekort app. The Basiskort serves as an alternative to the digital ticketing system, allowing passengers to travel by bus and train without the need for a smartphone or app. Light rail customers will also be able to use the Basiskort during the spring.
A Physical Alternative for All Travelers
The Basiskort is aimed at those who prefer a physical card over the Rejsekort app, whether due to personal preference or lack of access to a smartphone. This initiative was developed by Rejsekort & Rejseplan A/S in collaboration with Danish transport companies and selected senior and civil society organizations, ensuring a reliable alternative to app-based tickets in public transport.
During the fourth quarter of 2025, approximately 300 travelers in Aarhus tested the Basiskort on city buses. Participants were invited from organizations such as Ældre Sagen, Demenshjørnet, and the Autismeforeningen. After the trial, testers were able to continue using their Basiskort for city bus journeys in Aarhus.
Lars Berg, Director of Midttrafik, commented:
“We are pleased to offer the Basiskort as an alternative for customers who prefer a physical card over the Rejsekort app. Our focus now is to help customers transition from the physical Rejsekort to the Basiskort, providing clear information and guidance to ensure a smooth change. The positive results from our 2025 trial give us confidence in this rollout.”
Who Can Use the Basiskort?
From 17 February 2026, adults, pensioners under and over 67, and travelers with disabilities can order a Basiskort via the Rejsekort website or by phone.
The card also allows travelers to check in additional adults, children, bicycles, and dogs.
Currently, the Basiskort can be used for bus and train travel. In the spring, it will also be accepted on the light rail.
