“The most European of Chinese cars.” That’s how Leapmotor presents its B10, a strategic SUV because its segment is strategic, arriving with really impressive features, some of them even surprising – the suspension is one of those.

One side of the Stellantis galaxy that brings together the best of both worlds: Chinese technology, expressed here by the Leap 3.5 platform; and the know-how of the Italian-French giant, since the dealership network is entirely Stellantis, as are the after-sales services.

Leapmotor B10: our tops & flops

The Leapmotor B10 presents itself as “the most European of Chinese cars”: a strategic SUV combining Chinese technology from the Leap 3.5 platform with Stellantis’ know-how, ensuring dealership support and after-sales services. The car offers exceptional interior space, a practical and minimalist interior, AI-driven battery management, and fast DC charging up to 168 kW. European-style driving with MacPherson-Multilink suspension and 50:50 weight distribution ensures balanced handling.

Battery options of 56.2 and 67.1 kWh provide 361–434 km WLTP range, with very low consumption. Minor drawbacks include an understated design, lack of physical buttons, and a navigation system that can be unreliable. Overall, the B10 impresses for quality, space, efficiency, and rapid charging.

Great Quality

It’s true, the Leapmotor B10 may not have a striking design. On the contrary, it is fairly regular and minimalist, with front lights featuring small LED strips, and rear lights connected at the center. Modern, built to last, and designed to optimize interior space.

The car is 4.5 meters long, with a wheelbase of 2.7 meters: this means it has interior space practically unmatched in its category. Even tall passengers (I’m 1.94 m) have plenty of headroom and legroom, despite the fixed panoramic glass roof. The trunk is also large: 430 liters minimum, 1,700 liters with rear seats folded, plus 25 liters in the frunk.

The Leap 3.5 platform integrates all hardware (batteries, motor) and optimizes space. The interior design is minimalist but practical, with a 3D-effect dashboard, a central tunnel that serves as a convenient storage compartment, high-quality materials, and comfortable seats for urban and extra-urban driving.

The central touchscreen uses Leapmotor’s proprietary system and functions like a tablet. There are no physical buttons, so all functions are managed via the screen. Climate control is always visible, but other features, like three-level regenerative braking and driving modes, are hidden in submenus, which can be distracting. The system is fluid and supports split-screen mode for multiple apps. The navigation system, however, lost signal multiple times during testing.

European-Style Driving

Driving confirms the “European” claim. In a two-hour test in the French Pre-Alps, the car felt neither soft nor unstable, thanks to the MacPherson-Multilink suspension and 50:50 weight distribution. It behaves like a typical crossover and favors calm driving, performing exactly as designed.

The single motor produces 217 hp, with two battery options: 56.2 and 67.1 kWh, offering 361–434 km WLTP range. Average consumption during my calm test drive was below 14 kWh per 100 km, even under 13 in some stretches, thanks to AI-powered battery thermal management.

Fast DC charging up to 168 kW allows 80% charge in under 20 minutes, making it the fastest in its segment and very cost-effective. Efficiency and rapid charging make the B10 particularly appealing for fleets.
