Polyphony Digital has surprised Gran Turismo 7 fans with the announcement of the game’s Spec IV update, arriving in two parts during October and December. Alongside two returning tracks, Autumn Ring and Sugo, and a range of new game modes, Spec IV will add 12 new cars to the roster. Only some have been shown so far, in a three minute trailer, and this list will be updated as Polyphony reveals more.
BMW M5 E60
For many fans, this is the standout reveal so far. The E60 generation BMW M5 hides a genuinely wild V10 engine under its formal four door, big boot exterior, producing 500 bhp and a top speed of 190 mph. A proper sleeper, VANOS and rod bearing issues aside.
Honda MUGEN MOTUL CIVIC Si Race Car ’87
A returning favourite based on the third generation Honda Civic, last seen in GT6. The Motul liveried Civic Si dominated its class in the 1987 Japanese Touring Car Championship, cementing its status as a motorsport icon.
Citroen 2CV
The iconic Citroen 2CV stayed in production for 42 years, from 1948 to 1990, and remains one of the most recognisable small cars ever built. It last featured in GT6 and now returns as one of Spec IV’s quirkier additions.
Honda Stepwgn
Honda’s practical Stepwgn people mover has been in production since 1998, built as a dependable family box on wheels. Its boxy, understated styling may not look exciting, though a 911 GT3 engine swap in game could easily fix that.
Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo
Revealed earlier this month, the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo‘s arrival in Spec IV came as little surprise. Based on the earlier RX-Vision GT3, the updated car gets a more aggressive body kit and will once again race in the game’s Gr.3 category.
Xiaomi Vision GT
First unveiled at MWC in Barcelona earlier this year, Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi brings its Vision GT concept to the game alongside its more conventional SU7 Ultra road car.
The battery electric concept reportedly uses an active underfloor system and is described by Xiaomi as representing its vision for an electric future, with power output said to exceed 1,000 bhp.
