Fiat Multiplina is the latest idea from the Italian brand for urban electric mobility. Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, this concept offers four seats in just 3.04 metres, built on the architecture of an electric L7 heavy quadricycle. The name nods to the 600 Multipla of 1956, and the intention is clear from the first look: do more with less.
What is the Fiat Multiplina?
The Multiplina sits in the space between the ultra compact Topolino and a conventional city car. Fiat describes it as a Multi Purpose Quadricycle, a small vehicle meant to cover several everyday needs rather than one narrow use.

Where the Topolino is a two seater, the Multiplina adds room for four people while keeping a minimal footprint and a deliberately simple approach.
Dimensions: small outside, planned inside
The proportions are the most interesting part of the project. The Multiplina measures 3.04 metres in length, 1.40 metres in width and 1.53 metres in height. For a Danish reader, that is shorter than most city cars on sale today, and yet the cabin is designed to seat four. The brief is about using every centimetre instead of chasing performance or record figures.
A quadricycle with a different purpose
The L7 electric quadricycle layout allows Fiat to explore an alternative to the traditional city car. The focus is on space management and ease of use. The project tries to balance two needs that rarely meet: dimensions suited to dense city streets and a carrying capacity beyond that of two seat microcars.

Fiat points to typical daily situations: commuting, the school run, errands and short urban trips. In other words, the Multiplina is presented as a study in everyday usefulness and not only as a styling exercise.
Design: a modern take on the 600 Multipla
The inspiration comes from the Fiat 600 Multipla of 1956, which carried six people in about 3.5 metres. It was a clear example of functionality leading the design, and it is a very different car from the divisive Multipla of the late 1990s that many people have in mind.

The Multiplina does not copy the past. It borrows selected details: the forward set windscreen, the two tone body, the front moustache and the treatment of the rear air intakes. The result is friendly and recognisable, and it avoids retro pastiche.
Doing more with less
At the core of the concept is the principle of doing more with less: compact dimensions, low weight and intelligent use of space. Electrification is an important part of the story, but not the whole of it. The idea also rests on reducing size while still delivering real functionality.
The Multiplina joins the Fiat micromobility family alongside the Topolino and the TRIS, widening the range of urban solutions the brand is imagining. It remains a concept for now, and Fiat has not shared further technical details here. Still, with four seats, 3.04 metres and a clear sense of purpose, it makes a persuasive case for rethinking what a small city vehicle can be.
