Clever is taking full ownership of the Powered by E.ON Drive & Clever charging network in Denmark, which includes 48 fast-charging outlets. In a separate agreement, a fast-charging station operated by E.ON Drive Infrastructure (EDRI) near exit 56, Horsens Vest, on the E45 motorway will also join Clever’s public network. Both deals are expected to close during 2026.
The end of a Nordic joint venture
Powered by E.ON Drive & Clever was set up in 2018 as a 50/50 joint venture between EDRI and Clever, with the goal of making long-distance EV travel easier through fast charging across Scandinavia. The network currently counts 157 fast-charging outlets spread across 37 motorway locations in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
Before the end of the year, Clever will take over the network’s six Danish locations, folding them into its own public charging network. EDRI will take on the Swedish side of the network, while Uno-X Mobility Norge AS, a company that was not previously part of the joint venture, will become the new owner and operator of the Norwegian locations.
A new fast-charging station near Horsens
Alongside the main split of the joint venture, Clever will also take over an EDRI fast-charging station with 14 charging outlets at Horsens Vest during 2026, adding further capacity to its network along the E45.
Mathias Langkilde Sukstof, responsible for network strategy at Clever, said the company’s ambition remains the same as when the joint venture was founded: making it simple to drive an EV. According to Sukstof, bringing the Danish stations under one roof while adding the Horsens site strengthens the charging network and improves options for charging on the go.
What changes for Danish customers
Clever customers will be able to keep charging at the Danish Powered by E.ON Drive & Clever stations as usual throughout the transition. Around the turn of the year, the charging stations will switch to Clever’s design and start appearing as Clever locations inside the Clever app.
New owners in Norway and Sweden
From 1 September 2026, EDRI and Uno-X Mobility Norge AS will take over ownership and operation of the Swedish and Norwegian stations respectively. As a result, Clever customers charging in Norway or Sweden will need to pay by credit card going forward, rather than through their usual Clever account.
