Circle K is expanding beyond the forecourt. On 1 June 2026, the convenience chain opens its first store in Denmark without an attached petrol station, located in the check-in and arrivals area of Billund Airport.

The opening marks a strategic shift for Circle K Denmark, which has until now been known almost exclusively through its network of fuel stations. Internationally, the chain already operates standalone convenience stores, but the Billund location is the first time the concept has been brought to the Danish market.

The store will be accessible to both departing passengers and arriving visitors, positioning it as a high-footfall retail point throughout the day. The move is part of a broader effort to grow the chain’s presence in the convenience segment beyond fuel retail.

Circle K is currently Denmark’s largest convenience chain, operating more than 200 stores and generating annual convenience sales of 3.5 billion DKK. More than one in three customers already purchases food or other convenience products at its stations, and Danes collectively buy over 28 million meals from the chain each year.

Billund Airport’s commercial director Claus Christiansen welcomed the addition: “Circle K brings a strong and recognisable convenience concept that fits well with the need for quick and easy catering on the go.”

The store opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on 1 June 2026 at 11:00.
