Just days after unveiling its second-generation Blade batteries and its groundbreaking 1,500 kW (1.5 MW) Flash Charging technology,BYD has officially introduced the updated BYD Seal 07 — the first production car to combine both innovations in a single package.
For now, the sedan is exclusive to the Chinese market, with a starting price of 169,900 yuan (just over €21,000 or 158,000 DKK).
Charging 600 km in under 9 minutes
The Seal 07 measures 4,995 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase. Compared to its predecessor — which used BYD’s plug-in hybrid DM-i powertrain — this fully electric three-box sedan gets a refreshed look, particularly up front, with a redesigned bumper and new headlight clusters.
Under the floor sits a 69 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of 705 km on China’s homologation cycle. But the real headline is charging speed. In a demonstration video, the Seal 07 arrives at a Flash Charging station at just 10% battery. It hits 70% in just 4 minutes and 51 seconds, and reaches 97% in 8 minutes and 44 seconds — adding over 600 km of range in less than nine minutes. Those are numbers that no other production EV can currently match.
Beyond its powertrain, the Seal 07 is loaded with technology. BYD has equipped it with its “God’s Eye” ADAS suite, which includes a LiDAR sensor mounted above the windshield and advanced Level 2 driver assistance.
The interior doesn’t hold back either:
Digital smartphone key
Dedicated pet mode
Front seat massage function
Built-in refrigerated compartment
Camera-based road-surface reading system that actively adjusts the electronically controlled dampers in real time
With this level of performance, tech, and pricing, the Seal 07 makes a compelling case as one of the most formidable challengers to Tesla’s dominance — at least within China’s rapidly evolving EV market.
